The wait is over.....

According to Nathan, the wait is over.  Today is the day we leave for our family vacation/field trip.  We are so excited and have planned great educational sights to see.  The younger boys are super excited about staying in a hotel.  If all we did was stay in the hotel, Nathan and little Michael would be happy little clams.  But then mommy would be bored and you know the saying if mommy isn't happy- then no one is happy- LOL:)

Tomorrow, we will meet with my sister and her kids and will visit the mall in the morning, since we it supposed to be 101 in DC tomorrow, will have a picnic lunch and will go to the Air and Space musuem in the afternoon (in the AC).

I am so excited and cannot wait- I love spending time with her.  Since we don't live in the same state it is hard to see each other as much as we would like.  But we keep in touch:)

I am going to try my hardest to let you all know where we have been and what we saw for the day.  We plan to take lots of pictures:)

We hope everyone says cool and hope everyone has a great weekend and a fabulous week ahead:)

Awesome Kroger Deal- EXPIRED**

I was out yesterday picking up a few things for our trip.  I decided to pick up some BBQ sauce since they were on sale at Kroger.  Boy, did I do a double take when I saw that the Original BBQ sauce had a coupon on it that stated that you would get $2 off when you bought 1 8qt caniser of Country Time Lemonade or Kool Aid and 2 bottles of Kraft BBQ sauce.  Kevin and I quickly went over to the drink aisle to see how much the Country Time Lemonade and Kool Aid canisters were to see if they were a good deal.

To my surprise, the Country Time Lemonade canisters were with the Daytona sale- yea!!!  That was not listed in my circular.  I did the math real quick in my head and realized that yes this was a great deal if you are in the market for BBQ and/or Country Time Lemonade.

With all the happiness, I totally forgot to check the price of Kool Aid canisters.

I ended up buying:

3 canisters of Country Time Lemonade and 4 bottles of Original BBQ sauce and 3 bottles of Honey BBQ sauce.  I orginally went in there to buy 10 bottles of BBQ sauce due to the end price being $0.59 and getting $2 catalina back which is still a great deal.  But with this we can take the lemonade to my dad's house when we have lunch with him on Sundays.

$3.27- 3 bottles of Honey BBQ sauce
$4.36- 4 bottles of Original BBQ sauce
$11.07- 3 canisters Country Time Lemonade
$18.70
-1.40- when you buy 10 or more price
-5.10- when you buy 10 or more price
-3.00- Daytona sale when you buy 10
$9.20
-2.00- Coupon on BBQ sauce bottle
-2.00- Coupon on BBQ sauce bottle
-2.00- Coupon on BBQ sauce bottle
$3.43 with tax and got a $2 catalina- YEA!!!!!

I think that this is a pretty good deal if you need BBQ sauce and/or Country Time Lemonade.  Just the price of the BBQ sauce alone is a great price for BBQ sauce.  And we will use the $2 catalina when we get back for some Wheat White Flour:)

The Big Declutter Challenge #29

This is the last declutter challenge for the week for us as we will be leaving for our trip tomorrow.  It's actually more of a straighten up challenge instead of a declutter challenge.

For today's challenge, if you chose to dive right into decluttering another room, go for it.  If you are following us and using this week for straightening and reorganizing, then please carry on.

For today, we are going to be sweeping and moping tile floors, vacuuming carpets and cleaning bathrooms- exciting right?  I wish I could convince my kids that it was exciting.  We are also packing and doing lots of laundry in preparation for our trip.

Come back this evening and see how we did today:)

Dry Idea Review & Giveaway

Being a Purex Insider, I was given a great opportunity to try out and review Dry Idea Advanced Dry deodorant.

I received Dry Idea Advanced Dry Powder Fresh roll-on deodorant.  I must admit, I am not a fan of roll-on deodorants.  I don't like the stickiness my underarms feel when I apply roll on deodorants nor so I like waiting around for them to dry.  I am a solid deodorant type of girl.  But I decided to give the Dry Idea deodorant a chance.

Here are my thoughts:

Even though I am not a fan of roll-on deodorants, I was impressed by how well this deodorant kept me dry with my busy schedule.  Having 4 boys, I am always on the go.  The weather here has been in the 90's- I really put it to the test.  Plus, I try to go to the gym 6 days a week.  And Dry Idea kept me dry the whole time.

I wasn't impressed by the fast drying it claimed.  I thought it was going to dry faster than it did.  But I did not have the sticky feeling like I do with other roll-ons.

I was also happy that the scent was nice and light and not overpowering.  I am able to wear lotion or perfume and not have to worry about it clashing with my deodorant.

Dry Idea Advanced Dry is available in the following products:
Roll-On available in Unscented, Powder Fresh and Cotton Dry
Clear Gel available in Unscented and Powder Fresh
Invisible Solid available in Unscented, Powder Fresh and Cooling Burst with Air Conditioning Effect

For more information on Dry Idea Advanced Dry products, go to their facebook page and let them know I sent you:)

Dry Idea is hosting a sweepstakes with $1000 in prizes. They are giving away a $500 first place prize and (10) $50 second place prizes.  All you have to do is to go here and enter- easy and simple.

Dry Idea was so nice to send me 3 coupons for a Free 3.25oz or smaller Dry Idea Advanced Dry product to give to my wonderful readers.  If you would like a chance to win a free Dry Idea coupon, just leave me a comment below and you will be entered.

Due to our going away, we have extended this giveaway.  Giveaway ends on July 22, 2012 at 11:59:59 pm and the 3 winners will be announced on July 23, 2012:)  Winners will be picked using random.org.

**Dry Idea provided a free sample of their Advanced Dry Roll-On for this post.  My participation is voluntary and my opinions, as always, are my own.**

The Big Declutter Challenge #28 Update

How did you all do with your challenge for today?  Today was a great day for us.  Our summer homeschool went really well today.  The boys are loving homeschooling and I found I have a passion for teaching them:)  We are also getting really excited for our upcoming trip.  Nathan is keeping count of the days until we leave.

Today, I wanted to concentrate on the kitchen.  Well, I got clean kitchen windows, nicely scrubbed kitchen counters, a clean and scrubbed kitchen table, the living room windows cleaned and both glass doors are nice and shiny clean:)  We ran out of time before the boys had to leave for their library event (they are learning how to play chess at the library), but that is what tomorrow is for.

How did you do with your challenge today?

Barnes & Noble Summer Reading~ free book

Barnes & Noble is doing a summer reading program, where your child can earn a free book.

Go to the Barnes & Noble Summer Reading program page to print out a reading journal.  Read to or have your child red 8 books.  Write the book titles, the authors and who you would recommend this book to on the journal.  When the journal is complete, take it to your nearest Barnes & Noble store and get a free book off their free book list.

Nathan is so excited, he already has 6 books read- he only needs 2 more until he can return his reading journal and get a free book:)

The Big Declutter Challenge #28

Well, yesterday didn't go as planned for my declutter challenge.  Chris and Kevin forgot to tell me that they had plans at the library.  I was able to get some things done in the living room.

I am hoping that today goes smoother than yesterday.  I know that the boys have plans for this evening at the library but much later than yesterday.  So, we can work around that.

Today's challenge is what ever you would like to do today.  If you started on a room yesterday and would like to continue- go for it.  If you decided to follow us by reorganizing and would like to continue doing that- do that.

Today, we are going to working in the kitchen.

Come back this evening and see how we did with the kitchen.

The Big Declutter Challenge #27

I really wanted to do this yesterday but that didn't happen.  As many of you know, I have been trying to figure out what to do with our declutter challenges for this week as we are leaving for our family vacation/field  trip to Washington Dc this Friday.  I have decided it would be better for our family not to dive into another room this week as we are all running around like chickens with our heads cut off trying to make sure we have everything we need for our trip.

Instead, we are going to work on straigtening up and reorganizing some of the areas we have already decluttered.  Today, we are going to work on the living room(which was my goal for yesterday) and the kitchen.  I do believe with a little help from the boys after their summer school work we can knock this out quite nicely today:)

If you would like to take a break, dive right into another room or just pick up and reorganize the rooms you are already decluttered, by all means do that.  Do whatever is going to make you happy.  If at the end of the day, you are happy with your choice for the day- then I am happy for you.

Come back this evening and see how this challenge went for me today:)  Leave me a comment and let me know how you are doing with your declutter challenges and if they are working for you:)

The Big Declutter Challenge #26 Update

Well look at me- updating at night- LOL:)  Little Michael didn't get much of a nap so he crashed this evening.  Let's hope he stays asleep all night.

Today's challenge today was to pick up and sweep the boys bathroom floor.  I actually got the chance to do it- YEA!!!!  I must say the boys bathroom is looking much better.  I don't have a before and after picture for you- I forgot to take the before picture and my camera battery is almost dead so I need to charge it- so no after picture right now.

I hope everyone had a great day and were able to get your challenges done for this week.

I'm not entirely sure what I want to do about next week just yet.  We are leaving on Friday for a vacation/field trip to Washington DC- how fun and exciting:)  And I get to meet with my "sister" and her kids- we live several states apart and don't see each other as much as we would like but we do text and email each other quite often:)

I'm not as young as I used to be so these late nights are catching up with me.  Everyone is in bed and I think I am going to crash myself- goodnight:)

Hope everyone has a great, relaxing and safe weekend:)

Lowes Build & Grow Clinic- 06/23/2012

Lowes is hosting a Build & Grow Clinic for June 23, 2012. And if you are unable to make it on Saturday, Lowes just announed they will be hosting the same Build & Grow Clinic on Sunday, June 24, 2012.

If you are looking for a great free activity that you can do with your kids- you should check out the Lowes Build & Grow Clinics. Michael and Nathan love them. They love being able to do hands on projects with our help.

This Saturday and Sunday, Lowes Build and Grow Clinic will be building a Madagascar Vehicle.

To sign up for this Build & Grow Clinic simply go to the Lowes Build & Grow Clinic website, which they have redone to make it more user friendly. I am loving this new website. You register all your information. Then when you visit the website to sign up for an upcoming clinic, all you have to do is sign in and check which kids you are signing up. Don't forget to print and sign the waiver. And you and your child(ren) are ready for a really cool hands on project.

Once you and your child(ren) complete the project they will receive a neat patch to put on their Lowes Build & Grow apron. If this is your first clinic, your child(ren) will receive a free Lowes Build & Grow apron and goggles:) The more clinics you do, the more patches you get to put on your kids apron and they can show them off with pride:)

The Big Declutter Challenge #26

Sorry for the lack of updates for the last few challenges.  For some reason, little Michael has bed time schedule got messed up.  So, updating in the evenings has become more challenging.  The boys bathroom is coming along quite nicely.  Their bathroom was not bad at all- just needed some attention.

Today's challenge is to look at your declutter paper and find the 6th room and do the 4th thing you wrote to do.

My challenge today is to pick up and sweep the boy's bathroom floor- easy:)

Come back this evening (I should be able to update this evening since Michael will be home) and see how I did.  Don't forget to let me know how you are doing with your challenges.  We are here to encourage each other:)

The Big Declutter Challenge #25

Well yesterday didn't go as planned but that is OK, we have today to finish up.

Your declutter project for today is to look at your declutter paper and find room #6 and do the 3rd thing you wrote to do in that room.

Today, I am going to finish up the scrubbing and organizing the shelves in the boys bathroom.

Come back this evening and see how I did for today and yesterday's challenge:)

The Big Declutter Challenge #24

This morning seems to be flowing a lot better than yesterday.  I did hear my alarm this morning and got up when it went off unlike yesterday.  Little Michael seems to be feeling much better this morning and so far so good= no fever:)

Today's declutter challenge is to look at your declutter paper that you made in the beginning and locate room #6 and find the second thing you wrote to do.  That is going to be your project for today:)

This week we are working in the boys bathroom, which is a lot smaller than mine.  That makes it the perfect room to work in this week.  Today's challenge for me to to clean and reorganize the shelves in the boys bathroom.

The boys are all at the kitchen table working so nicely on their summer school work, with the exception of Christopher, who is at actual summer school.  I am going to try to sneak away for a few minutes and see if I can get the boys shelves done this morning- wish me luck:)

Don't forget to come back this evening and see how I did with my challenge for today.  Hope you all are doing well with your challenges.

The Big Declutter Challenge #23

Hope everyone had a nice relaxing weekend.  I wish I could say the same.  When one of your kids comes in and asks if Chris has summer school and you at the clock and noticed that not only did Chris miss the bus but that summer school starts in 15 minutes- what a way to start the day- oh my.  I totally forgot to set my alarm- oops.

Today is going to be a busy one.  I hope to get my declutter challenge done today.  Luckily, the room we are working in is small and won't take the entire week to complete:)

Today's declutter challenge is to look at your declutter paper and locate room #6 and look at the first thing you wrote to do.  That is your project for today:)

Come back tonight to not only let me know how you are doing with your declutter challenges but to see if I was able to complete my declutter project today.

The Big Declutter Challenge #22

Are you ready for today's declutter challenge?  I am.  I am loving how my bathroom is coming together.

Today's challenge is to look at your declutter paper and find room #5 and do the 4th thing you wrote.

I have been working in my bathroom this week.  Today, I will be working on the the small rolling table in my bathroom.  We keep all of our towels, washcloths and dish towels neatly folded on the top.  There are 2 shelves underneath.  The first shelf  holds all of our toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, etc and the second shelf holds laundry products.

Come back this evening and see how I did with this challenge.  Also, let me know how you are doing with your challenges.

The Big Declutter Challenge #21 Update

Well, today definately went alot smoother than yesterday-YEA!!!!  I am so happy about that.

Yesterday was a challenging summer homeschool day.  I gave Chris and Kevin both a math worksheet with some multiplication problems on it.  Some were single digit multiplication, others were double and even triple digit.  I then discovered that 2 of my kids couldn't do the double and triple digit multiplication problems.  I was really sad. How in the world did they get to high school not knowing how to do these problems?

I was both floored and sad after talking with my boys.  I discovered that the reason they didn't know how to do those problems is that they were not required to learn it.  They are able to use calculators in class, on tests and on the SOL's.  Due to the overuse of calculators, both Chris and Kevin, I am sad to say, they both have difficulty with simple muliplication problems.

I am so thankful that the Lord is leading me towards homeschooling 3 of my 4 children.  I am thankful that we have the whole summer to brush up on their multiplication skills.

Ok- enough of my rant- sorry about that.  I do feel better now- thanks:)

We are supposed to be talking about our declutter challenge for today.  Today was room #5 and area #3.  That was supposed to be the shelves in my bathroom, but I kind of did them yesterday and they were an easy challenge for me since I was having a rough day.

Here is my before pic:
OK- this is weird- my pics won't load up.  In case you were wondering, my shelves were messy and now that I have reorganized them- they are neat.  I seem to have lots of lotion that I didn't even realize I had.  I should be one well moisturized mama- LOL:)  I will post the pics as soon as my blog will allow me.

I did my shelves yesterday and today I tackled my sink.  I think I found about a year's worth of hair elastics as well as some combs I don't remember having.  But I do have a sink now- YEA!!!!

For those who have been to my house, you know exactly what I am talking about.  But now, it looks so good.   I know where all my hair and makeup stuff is:)

I don't know about you but I am so ready for tomorrow's declutter challenge.  I am getting rid of so much stuff and it feels so good:)

How are you doing with your challenges?

The Big Delcutter Challenge #21

Here hoping today goes more smoothly than yesterday, will explain this evening in the update.

Today's declutter challenge is to look at your declutter paper and find room #5 and locate the 3rd thing you wrote to do.  That is your challenge today:)

For me, we are reclaiming our bathroom.  The area I am supposed to do today is to go through and organize the shelves in our bathroom.  Due to the craziness of yesterday, I kind of did the shelves yesterday.  So, today for me is to hopefully get my sink done:)

Come back this evening to see how my day went and to let me know how you day went as well:)

The Big Declutter Challenge #20

Ready for today's challenge?  I am~ I am ready to take back my bathroom:)

Today's declutter challenge is to look at your declutter paper:
Find room #5 and look at the second thing you wrote to do and do that.

For me, I am tackling the bathroom this week and my task today is to unclutter the top of my sink and my sink.  We have a double sink.  Since my husband and I are the only ones who use our bathroom, we only use 1 sink.  So, the other sink has become the black hole of hair accessories and other hair supplies.  It would be great to see my sink even if I don't use it.  I think it would look a lot better and I might even be able to find my hair bands without digging:)  LOL:)

Good luck today with your challenge.  Come back this evening and see how I did with my challenge.

Homeschool Help

We are in the process of considering homeschooling 3 of our 4 children.  Christopher, our oldest wishes to remain and graduate from public school next year.  That is fine- we want whatever makes our kids happy.

Kevin was the first to come and ask if he could be homeschooled.  We had been having some issues with the school.  I have been online researching, researching and researching.  It was then that I discovered the HEAV conference.  I had talked it over with Michael and we decided to attend the free how to workshops first before investing in the conference.

The how to workshops were amazing.  They were very informative and contained alot of useful information.  I met several families also considering homeschooling their kids and wondering where in the world to begin.  After the workshops, we were able to go into the exhibit hall for free- YEA!!!!  It was huge.  Luckily, we got a lay out, so Michael and I circled the booths we definitely wanted to check out.  It was great being surrounded by other families who all share the same goal~ to educate our children.

I was so excited when I came across Crystal from moneysavingmom at her booth.  She was so nice and down to earth.  She chatted with us about our decision to homeschool and gave us some great information.  I was so excited just to meet her, let alone talk to her:)  I was floating on cloud 9- Michael laughed at me- but oh well:)  I was so happy to talk to her that I totally forgot to ask her if we could get a picture together and I forgot to bring her book to see if she would sign it- maybe next year.  I love her book so far- haven't finished it yet- still working through the decluttering part:)

Nathan seemed genuinely interested in being homeschooled.  We have talked with him about what this would mean.  He wants to give it a shot.  So, we are doing a summer homeschool to see how they would do in a homeschool setting.

We are in day 2 and so far so good.  Even little Michael requests some cayons (as he calls them) and some paper so he can do his work- it is so cute seeing all my boys at the table doing their work.

For our summer homeschool we are utilizing the library for most of our books.  We are doing Bible study together.  Nathan is doing 2 pages from a 2nd to 3rd grade workbook I bought at Barnes and Noble.  Nathan is researching an animal for science for our vacation/field trip to the zoo in Washington DC.  He is doing math worksheets that I printed out using placement tests and an vocabulary activity each day.  He reads me a book we checked out from the library and we are learning about the Constitution- also perfect for our trip to DC.

Kevin is reading about Juneteenth and the American Patriots for history.  He is researching an animal for Science and doing math worksheets.  He is reading The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn for English and is learning how to play guitar for music.  He is also learning about the Constitution:)

Chris, who has no interest in homeschool wanted to be included in the summer homeschool, so we is reading and researching Egyptians and tombs for history.  He also does a math worksheet and is learning to play guitar.  He is doing Independent Reading and is enjoying learning about the Constitution with the rest of us:)

So far so good and we are trying to figure out exactly when the boys want to start homeschool for real if this is something they truly want to do.  I have done a great deal of research and have come up with a curriculum that I love for Nathan and Kevin.  When I add up the prices, I about fell on the floor.  Much like I was told, homeschooling definitely costs more than public school but way less than private school.  It makes it harder that I don't know anyone here that homeschools so I feel like I am on my own- which is kind of scary.  I do have a friend who homeschools her children but she is far away.  She has been a great resource and a wealth of information:)

So, I am reaching out to you~ if you homeschool and have some friendly advice that you wish to share, I am all ears:)

The Big Declutter Challenge #19 Update

Today was a great day~ not only were we able to get our "summer school homeschool" work done, I was able to tackle the cabinets in my bathroom.  They weren't too terribly bad just cluttered.  There is no rhyme or reason in there, have something that goes in the bathroom, just toss it in the cabinet:)

Before picture:
And the much better after picture:
Wow- I had no clue I had so much bodywash.  I got rid of a lot of junk and found some stuff to give away and some items to sell:)
How did you do with your declutter challenge?  Get ready for tomorrow's challenge:)

The Big Declutter Challenge #19

Let's hope this decluttering week goes alot better than last week.  We were so busy last week running here and running there plus we attended some homeschooling workshops (more on that later today).  So, last week's decluttering challenges were mainly a big flop.  I hope you did a lot better than I did.

This week we are leaving behind room #4 and working on room #5.

Today's declutter challenge is to look at your declutter paper:
Find room #5 and look at the first thing you wrote and do that:)

For me, the room this week is our bathroom:)  The area I need to work on today are the cabinets under the sink.

Good Luck with your decluttering project for today.  Come back this evening and see how I did with the cabinets under the bathroom sink.

The Big Declutter Challenge #18

Hope yesterday's challenge went well for you all, whatever challenge you chose to embark on.

Many of you know that Michael and I went to a Homeschool Conference in Richmond.  It was AMAZING:)  Will give you all the details tonight when I do the declutter challenge update.

Today's declutter challenge is to look at you declutter paper and find room #4 and do what you wrote on the 5th line.

For me, it is to finish my declutter challenge #15 and do declutter the area between my bed and dresser.

Good Luck with today's challenge.  Don't forget to come back tonight and see if I actually got it done this time:)

The Big Declutter Challenge #17

If you have kept up with the challenges and not gotten behind, like myself, I am so proud of you.  Great job:)
Michael and I are going to a homeschool conference and will be leaving soon.  So, todays challenge can be as easy or challenging as you would like.
If you have kept up with your challenges and want to keep trucking along- go right ahead:)  For you, today's challenge will be to look at your declutter paper and find room #4 and do the 4th area you wrote down.

For those who got behind and want to catch up, today would make an awesome make up day.  For you, start wherever you got behind and see where you end up.  You might surprise yourself and be able to catch up.  Or you may see the vast improvement if your room and keep on keeping on and see where you stop:)

For those who have kept up with the challenges and need to take a break to keep your sanity- go for it:)  Do something that you enjoy and rest for tomorrows challenge:)

Have a blessed day:)

The Big Declutter Challenge #16 Update

Well...... today I did do part of my declutter challenge.

It was such a beautiful day today, so we spent most of the day outside instead of being cooped up in the house.  I did clean off the changing table, while little Michael took a nap, which was challenge #14.  Boy did I throw out a lot of stuff and managed to find 4 pillowcases:)

I would tell you that I had planned to do declutter challenge #15, which is the area between my dresser and bed tomorrow except that Michael and I will be going to a homeschool conference tomorrow for most of the day.  Will be attending several free workshops for those interested in learning more about homeschooling.  So, tomorrow is going to be an easy declutter challenge day:)

Sorry, I didn't get any before and after photos.

How did you do with your declutter challenge?

The Big Declutter Challenge #16

A little late- this morning has been a fun one.  All the boys are home and we went outside to play since the weather is so beautiful:)

Today's declutter challenge is to look at your declutter paper:
Find room #4 and do the third thing you wrote.

Or if you are like me and didn't do your last 2 challenges, do those instead:)  I kind of need to do those 2 challenges before I can go any further in my room.

Come back tonight and see how I did and let me know how you did.

May 2012 Goal Update

Lets see how we did with our goals for the month of May:

Here are our 2012 Goals: (in no particular order)

1) To not eat out or at least to not pay out of pocket, with the exception of tips. If we want to treat the family to a meal out, we will make sure we have a gift card to cover all of us.
We did fabulous with this goal.

2) Pay off 2 credit cards
So excited, we paid off 1 credit card on 04/16/2012
Was super excited to pay off credit card #2 in a few short months but unfortunately we had a surprise medical bill come up so we decided to pay off that medical bill first.  Credit card #2 is going to take a little bit longer to pay off.

3) Not to use any of our credit cards for 2012. To pay cash for everything.
We did great with this and used cash for our purchases in April.

4) To lower our grocery budget. Our current grocery budget is $400 month for our family of 6. Our goal is to lower that amount and to save the remainder.
We did good last month and stayed under our grocery budget barely.  We were able to set aside $18 that we didn't spend.

5) To create a monthly meal plan for our family, to use leftovers more efficiently and to make use of everything in our pantry and freezer.
Doing great with this for April- use leftovers wisely and wasting less. With 4 boys, leftovers are not being left over as much.

6) Unclutter the house and become more organized:)
Doing great with this.  Moving room to room and getting rid of stuff:)  Blogging about our declutter challenge has kept me accountable and focused.  It is great feeling to walk into a room and it looks so much better, clearer and open:)

7) Lose weight- I need to get motivated to lose this baby weight- my goal is to lose 20 lbs this year.
Doing great with this.

8) Morning devotions, prayer time and more bible reading
Doing great with this:)

9) Monthly date night with hubby- whether we go out or stay at home, pop popcorn and rent a movie
With our crazy busy month this month, we were unable to do any date months this month.

10) To spend quality family time together. With everyones schedule and us running all over creation, I would love to spend more quality time together- no tv- us playing games, talking, enjoying each others company.
Not so great with this goal- will make more of an effort to make this happen.

11) Not to use our dryer to save on electricity and lower our electricity bill
Doing fabulous with this goal and when our electric bill came in it was $15 lower- YEA!!

12) To make a better effort to blog more regularly and to make a blogging schedule
Need to get better organized and actually make a blogging schedule and keep up with it.

13) To make much needed house repairs
Making a list of house repairs to do and hope to get started soon.

14) To fix the car that is sitting in our driveway so that whoever gets their drivers license first will have a car to drive or share if they both get their license at the same time
We are actually going to nix this goal as we are going to sell the car. My father is going to sell me my mom's van. It is too painful for him to have around the house, so we are not going to need the car after all. We soon will have 2 vans:)

15) To do 1 project a month and blog about it
We didn't get an opportunity to do our monthly project for May :(  Hope to do better in June:)

How did you do with your goals last month?

Monthly Spending for June 2012

Here is where I will keep a list of our spending for the month of June. Remember our monthly budget is $400 for everything for our family of 6 and 2 pets, not too mention our 2 bird feeders outside. We didn't do that bad last month. The money we don't spend out of our grocery budget gets put aside and saved. We were able to save $18 from last month. Lets see how much under budget I can get for this month.

So excited to come under our budget this month.  Instead of taking the money and setting it aside, we are taking the $112 leftover with us on our vacation and using that money for our grocery money.  We will have a full kitchen at the hotel:)  Plus the hotel offers a hot breakfast every morning and dinner on Monday through Thursday.  So, that will help out alot for our groceries for the time we are there.

Lowes Build & Grow Clinic- 06/09/12

Mark your calendars. Lowes is hosting a Build & Grow Clinic for June 9, 2012.   And if you are unable to make it on Saturday, Lowes just announed they will be hosting the same Build & Grow Clinic on Sunday, June 10, 2012.

If you are looking for a great free activity that you can do with your kids- you should check out the Lowes Build & Grow Clinics. Michael and Nathan love them. They love being able to do hands on projects with our help.

This Saturday and Sunday, Lowes Build and Grow Clinic will be building a Monkey Powered Plane.

The Big Declutter Challenge #14 & #15 Update

I had no clue how busy the last few days of school would be.  I have never been this busy before with 3 kids in school.  But for some reason, this year, all I seem to do is go, go and go.  Luckily, today was the last day for school here.

So, do you think I was able to get my last 2 challenges done??  I wish:)  The answer is oh no!!  By the time I had any time, it was time to get dinner started.  With SOL's, exams and Nathan having 4 parties the last week of school, I have been all over the place.

My goal for tomorrow is to do both #14 & #15.   With all the boys here tomorrow, I should be able to get some things done.  The older boys are really good at keeping the younger boys entertained for a little bit so I can get some stuff done.  Plus they can help:)  I hope to be able to clear off the changing table (#14) before lunch and to get to the area between my bed and dresser (#15) after lunch.

Wish me luck:)

How did you do with your declutter challenge?  Hopefully better than I did.

The Big Declutter Challenge #15

Today's declutter challenge is to look at your declutter paper:
Look at room #4 and do the 2nd thing you wrote.

For me, the room I am working on is my bedroom and the area I am working on is the space between my bed and my dresser.  There seems to be alot of stuff between my bed and dresser.  So, now is the time to part with some of it and declutter that area.

Come back this evening and see how I did and to let me know how you did with your area.

Yesterday was jam packed and I didn't have to chance to blog yesterday so I have alot of catching up to do today:)

The Big Declutter Challenge #14

How did you all do last week?  I am so excited I was able to fully declutter one whole room, even if it was my tiny laundry room.  But small progresses are still progresses in the right direction~ right?

Today we are moving right along.  Today's declutter challenge is to look at your declutter paper:
Find area #4 and look at the first thing you wrote.  For me, it looks like we are moving into my bedroom.  Which needs a good declutter~ big time:)

Come back this evening and see which area in my room I tackled first and to let me know how you did with your declutter challenge for today:)

The Big Declutter Challenge #13 Update

I would love to thank the wonderful storms we had Friday night that was causing our power to blink, which turned off my computer, which made it near impossible to update my declutter challenge that evening.  And the tornado watch we were under made the evening even more exciting:)

Let's see- where were we in our declutter challenge??  We were in area 3 section 3- which for me was my laundry room floor:)

Here is my before picture of my super cluttered laundry room:
And the after:

Looking much better:)  I am very pleased with the way my laundry room now looks.  Please keep in mind I couldn't much to the top shelf as that is my hubby's tools and stuff.  He needs a good tool box to put that stuff in but for now it sits on the top shelf.  I am also pleased with the laundry detergent, fabric softener and stain remover from my mom and all the laundry samples I found- I think I have enough laundry stuff to last me for a little while:)

The Big Declutter Challenge #13

Today's declutter challenge is to look at your declutter paper:
Find area #3 and do the third thing you wrote.

Luckily, my laundry room is very small and I only had 3 things to accomplish in this room.  Go through the shelves, clean off the dryer and clear the floor.

My mother always stocked up on laundry supplies.  When she passed away, my dad gave me several huge bottles of fabric softener and stain remover.  My mom has been in Heaven for a year now and I am sad to say that the bottles my dad gave me are still in a bag on the floor in my laundry room.

So, today, we attack the floor and find homes for the bottles fabric softener and stain remover and anything else that may be on the floor.

Come back tonight to see the before and after pictures.  I am so excited how open my laundry room is looking even though it is small.
