What did I find at the Dollar Tree??

Everyone processes stress differently.  What do you do when you are stressed out, worried or nervous?  I must keep moving to keep my mind off what ever is bothering me.  Recently, I have turned my worry and nervousness into cleaning :)

When at the Dollar Tree I found these and thought they might be helpful in my cleaning:

I wonder how these will work compared to that of the name brand products?  I had the perfect place in mind.  I had some doors and walls in the hallway that needed some attention.

Let's see how it did.  The before pics:
Mark on door- it appears to be pen
Something on the door frame.  Not sure what.
Mark on wall.  Not sure if pen or Sharpie :(
After wetting the Quick Erasers and scrubbing these areas, the after pics:
The marks are all gone~ YEA!!!!  I was pleasantly surprised how well these Quick Erasers worked.  I ended up going through 2 of them working on the rest of the hallway :(

I will definitely being purchasing more of these Scrub Buddies Quick Erasers from the Dollar Tree.  And I ended up getting 3 in the package for $1~ Sweet :)

Can't wait to see what my next Dollar Tree find will be :)

What's at the Dollar Tree Wednesday??

This week, I decided to compare a Dollar Tree item vs an equivalent item purchased at Walmart.

And the item is .......

Cotton Balls :)

I purchased Dollar Tree Cotton Balls and White Cloud Jumbo Sized Cotton Balls.
Now by looking at the picture, can you tell me which is which?  Which cotton ball is the Dollar Tree Brand and which one is the White Cloud brand?  Any guesses??

I asked my family and they thought the cotton ball on the left was the White Cloud Jumbo Size cotton ball and the one on the right was the Dollar Tree Brand.  And they were.....

WRONG.

The cotton ball on the left is actually the Assured Brand from the Dollar Tree
The cotton ball on the right is the White Cloud Jumbo Size brand from Walmart
My hubby couldn't figure out why I have been walking around the house playing with cotton balls:)

My thoughts on these 2 brands of cotton balls:

The Assured Brand seems to be thicker.  I use it to apply toner to my face and for fingernail polish remover.  This cotton ball works great for these applications.

The White Cloud brand seems to be thinner and pulls apart quite easily.  When I use this cotton ball, the liquid soaks into the cotton ball and runs down my hand :(  I thought I was using too much product.  Now for a school project, like using cotton balls for snow or clouds, this brand would work best.

For a price point of view:
Assured Brand- 100 cotton balls for $1= $0.01 per cotton ball
White Cloud brand- 200 cotton balls for $1.88= 0.0094 per cotton ball

It all depends of what you are using these products for that will determine which one would be best for you.  If it is about saving money, then the White Cloud brand would be your best deal for the amount of cotton ball you get.

Go ahead and try them out and let me know which ones you prefer better.

What's at the Dollar Tree Wednesday??

This week I went with:

Puzzles :)

This was a hard buy for me.  A few years ago, if you had of asked me about Dollar Tree puzzles, I would have told you not to bother.  They would have made my top 10 What Not to buy at the Dollar Tree list.  The puzzle pieces were awful :(  They were bent, curled and did not fit correctly.  If you got all the pieces, consider your self lucky.

I decided to re try them and see if the quality got any better.

I am so happy to report that these Dollar Tree puzzles are great.  The pieces were not only all there but they were flat and got put together smoothly.  I am so happy about these puzzles.  Our Dollar Tree has a nice big selection of puzzles to choose from.

I am giving Dollar Tree puzzles a Thumbs Up :)  I see more puzzles in our future :)

What's at the Dollar Tree Wednesday??

This Dollar Tree purchase was:
A Candle :)

I don't know about you but I LOVE the flicker of a flame.  It is just so soothing and calming.  When I saw that they had a Peppermint scented candle, I knew that that was the one I needed to test out.  I was pleasantly surprised when the candle only rang up for $0.25 :)  I am curious if that is because it is Peppermint and maybe considered a Holiday scent.

I was so excited to try this Peppermint candle out.  I lit it and let it burn for a couple of hours.  I was very disappointed about the scent throw.  I couldn't smell it.  Bummer :(

My next Dollar Tree visit, I decided to give the Luminessence brand another shot.
This go around I purchased an Apple Cinnamon scented candle.  This candle had a very nice scent throw.  I could actually smell it~ YAY :)  This candle would be great for a small space.

I would purchase this brand again.  And for the $0.25 Peppermint candle, it would make a great emergency candle for when the power goes out :)

What's at the Dollar Tree Wednesday?

For this Dollar Tree trip, I knew I wanted to seek out something new.

That is when I saw this:

The Dollar Tree equivalent to the Space Bag :)

Anyone remember the 1990's Space Bags?  I can still remember the commercials and thinking that they were just the coolest things ever.  My mother didn't feel the need for this purchase, so I never got to see if they really worked or not.  Plus if my memory is correct, I don't think you could buy just 1 bag, I think you had to buy a whole set.

When I saw the Essentials Vacuum Storage Bag, I just knew I needed to try them out.  Plus I have a couple of items that were my moms that I don't want anything to happen to.

So here is how it worked for me:
I took the vacuum storage bag out of the bag
I placed my mom's handmade throw and the beautiful shawls that she had into the bag and zipped it up
Place the vacuum nozzle on the valve and watch the magic
Voila!!  I now have a flattened bag of handmade items that are now protected from dust and other critters :)
I am in love.  I am now scouring the house for other things I "need" to preserve :)  I will definitely be buying more of these.  Plus with all the air sucked out, they can be stored more easily.  The only down side I can see to these bags are that so far I can only find them in 1 size- Large.

In my opinion, the Essentials Vacuum Storage Bag is a definite win :)

Anyone else try these?  How did it work for you?

What's at the Dollar Tree Wednesday

After learning that I have no wrapping skills and like to bag gifts going out to friends, another item that I buy frequently at the Dollar Tree:
Cards :)

If you have a received a card from me, it was more than likely purchased at the Dollar Tree.

Whether you are looking for birthday, get well, sympathy, humorous, holiday cards, etc, take a look at the Dollar Tree.  They have quite the assortment.  At $0.50 a card, you cannot beat the price.
Look at this $2.25 card that I got for $0.50- WOOHOO :)
If you are looking specifically for American Greeting cards, Dollar Tree has them also for $1 a card.  Which is still a fabulous price.  My hubby cannot get out of Walmart with out paying at least $5 for 1 card- YIKES.

Tune in next Wednesday to see my thoughts for a product that we have never used before :)

What's at the Dollar Tree Wednesday

Last week, we discovered that I was the world's not so greatest gift wrapper :)  Which brings me to my next favorite Dollar Tree item:
Gift bags :)  My Dollar Tree has a whole wall of gift bags.  Normally, if I am giving a present to someone outside of my family, they will receive it in a gift bag complete with tissue paper, that I also got from the Dollar Tree :)
And the best part, the amount of bags you get for $1 depends on the size.  Larger bags are $1 each, while smaller bags like the one pictured above, I got 3 bags for $1 :)

You cannot go wrong with gift bags from the Dollar Tree for all your non wrapping needs, they have bags of all colors, sizes and occasions :)

What's at the Dollar Tree Wednesday

Looking back at any of my Shopping Day posts, you will see that I regularly shop at the dollar tree for about a handful of items each month.

I have been seeing a lot of amazing Dollar Tree hauls and noticed there is so much of the Dollar Tree I am missing.

I challenged myself to take a deeper look into my local Dollar Trees.  I am very lucky we have 3 close to where we shop :)

Instead of listing all the items I currently buy at the Dollar Tree in 1 post, I thought it might be fun to turn this into a little What's at the Dollar Tree Wednesday series.  I will include not only items I currently love to purchase at the Dollar Tree, but items that are new to me.  I thought it would be neat to test out these new to me items and give you all my honest opinions on them.

The first thing on my love to purchase at the Dollar Tree is:
Wrapping Paper.  One of the Dollar Trees I visit has a ton of wrapping paper.  Not only do they have what you see in the picture but they have boxes of wrapping paper on the other side of the aisle.

They have wrapping paper for all occasions.  And for $1 it is one of my most purchased items, especially near Christmas time :)

When I need wrapping paper, the first place I head is the Dollar Tree and I usually find a suitable wrapping paper for what it is I am attempting to wrap :)  I am not the most elegant gift wrapper :)  It is a great thing that most people just rip the paper off and don't care what the wrapping job looks like.

Tune in next Wednesday to see what my next favorite Dollar Tree item is :)

I am excited to hear that Dollar Tree stores are now accepting manufacturer's coupons.  I shop at Dollar Tree almost every week.  It will be exciting to see what kind of deals I am able to get using coupons at the Dollar Tree.

Michael and I went to the Dollar Tree on Monday on our normal shopping trip day and sure enough as soon as we walked in, we saw a nice big sign that read~ Dollar Tree now accepts manufacturer coupons.
