We made it..........

Wow that was one long drive.  8 hours in the car but we made it.  We checked into our hotel and made our way to attempt to find the place that was holding our tickets.  I guess I never realized how busy the Orlando Florida area would be. We managed to find a Walmart so we could buy our groceries for the week. We are very blessed that our hotel has a full kitchen:)  That is one of the reasons we picked this hotel plus we are staying here for free- Yea!!

I am not sure if it is pure excitement or not sleeping in my own bed but I have not been able to sleep past 6 am.  Yesterday, I got up before 5 am and this morning I was up and showered ready to start my day before 6 am.

Today's plans I do believe are to eat breakfast- the hotel we are staying at has a free hot breakfast every morning:)  Then we have to locate the Lowes down here to do the Build and Grow event.  I think we are going to try to go to Sea World today- what fun:)  I hope to take lots of pictures, that I will of course share with you all.

Have a blessed and safe day where ever your travels take you:)

Our family winter trip

I know you all have been patiently awaiting to hear where we will be going on our family winter trip.  Normally, we go and spend winter break with my inlaws in NC.  But this year, we were very blessed to be able to go a little further.

I wanted to post this earlier but by the time we found out we were going, we had to get everything ready as soon as possible.  And with our family luck, we cannot seem to get away for a wonderful trip without a visit to the boys doctor (will explain that one later).

We have been saving for 4 years for this family trip and still had a few years to go.  We were very blessed with an early Christmas present that allowed us to take this trip now:)

We surprised the boys with a 24 clue scavenger hunt- it was great- they were running inside and outside trying to find and decipher the clues that would tell them where we were going.  It was so hard keeping this secret.  I wanted to shout out we were going- I am so excited.
The beginning of the scavenger hunt
Found a clue
The last clue before the reveal
YEA!!!!!!!  Everyone so excited:)
These are just a few pictures of our scavenger hunt.  Everyone is super excited to go to Disney.  We left yesterday and drove 6 hours down.  My goal is so get everyone up and ready, go down to breakfast and make our drive the rest of the 7 hours down.  We will see how that works out:)  I will try to update on how everything is going throughout the week.

We hope your family has a blessed week:)

Big Huge Thanks:)

I would love to thank everyone for your warm get well wishes and prayers.  I am so blessed that I felt so much better the next day.  I was hoping that I would be the only one that ended up sick.  I was hoping:)  Unfortunately, my little Michael ended up with some icky virus that lasted from Tuesday until Friday.  My poor baby didn't want to do anything but cuddle with mommy:)

I am so happy to say that what ever nasty icky virus we ended up with, only went through myself and my little one.  Everyone else is healthy and happy.

I have so much catching up to do.  I will do my best to blog as much as I can before we end up leaving Thursday afternoon:)

Hope your family is healthy and happy:)

Hey:)

You are probably wondering where in the world I dissapeared to.  The router at my house gave up.  We called our Internet Provider, which is sending us a new router.  Unfortunately, it won't be here for a couple of more days :(

Plus, I have ended up catching a very nasty virus.  I am at the library trying to not to breathe on anyone,  on my son's laptop, so I could update you guys real quick.  Sorry.  Hope you and your families are all well:)

When I get better and get my new router- I will return.  Keep your fingers crossed the router will be here soon and please keep me in your prayers that I may return to my normal healthy self:)

Have a blessed day~ Theresa

Happy Thanksgiving

We would love to wish everyone a very blessed Thanksgiving.  If you will be traveling, be safe.  Enjoy the comforts of family, friends and food:)

We will be traveling to Maryland this year to spend Thanksgiving with our family up north.  This Thanksgiving will be particularly difficult as it is the first Thanksgiving be will be celebrating since my mother passed away 6 months ago.  Even though my heart is still heavy from my mom's death, I know that the Lord is carrying me and my family.

I am very Thankful that the Lord has given me this day to spend with friends and family.

Have a very blessed Thanksgiving from our family to yours:)  Take care.

I have had requests for some of the recipes of the foods that we eat.  So, I am going to try to post 1 recipe each week.  This first recipe is Baked Oatmeal with Apples.  It is the most requested breakfast that I make.  I usually make it up the night before, so all I have to do is throw it in the oven in the morning.  Have one in the fridge right now and will post a picture of this yummy treat after I bake it:)

Baked Oatmeal with Apples
6 Cups Oatmeal
4 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp salt
1 Cup Sugar
4 Eggs
1 Cup Canola Oil
2 Cups Milk
1 Apple- peeled, cored and sliced

Add all the ingredients in the order listed.  Pour in greased 9X13 pan.  Top with cinnamon and brown sugar.  Cover with foil.  Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes.  Let cool 10 minutes, which is so hard to do.  Dive in and enjoy:)

If you already pre-ordered this book, Amazon has a great pre-order price guarantee.  If this price lowers before its release, you pay the low price. Plus if you order $25 or more, shipping is free.  I needed to order some books for the boys for our secret winter trip ( I will let you all in on the secret after Thanksgiving).  For this amazing price, I went ahead and added The Money Saving Mom's Budget book to my cart.  I cannot wait to read this book.

"The Money Saving Mom's Budget" Preorder book

One of my favorite bloggers, Crystal Paine has written a book, "The Money Saving Mom's budget".

I cannot wait for it to hit the shelves on January 10, 2012.  I am actually going to be using my Swagbucks to get a gift card to purchase this book as soon as it is released.  I haven't been this excited about a book release in some time now.

Crytal Paine is an amazing mother to 3 super cute kids and has an amazing supportive husband.  She is also the woman behind MoneySavingMom.com.  I love her website and have been following her for some time now.  She is very inspirational, has great information and actually inspired me to start this blog.

Even though I have never met her in real life, I feel I know her from her blog.

The Money Saving Mom's budget book is available for preorder right now on Amazon for only $10.98- awesome price.  The books list price is listed at $14.00.

If this book is anything like her website, you will not be dissapointed.  I am so excited and am counting down the days until I get my copy:)

Thank you Swagbucks:)

As many of you know, I am a huge fan of Swagbucks.  I redeem the points I earn on gift cards.  They have other things other than giftcards, like DVD's, magazines, video games the list goes on and on.  I am sure you will find something that you would love to redeem your points on.

I love to redeem my points on gift cards- something fun just for me:)

I just cashed out some of my points and got a $50 Starbucks gift card- Merry Christmas to me.

I am so excited.  The only time I go to Starbucks is when I have a gift card.  I am only a few points away from redeeming for a $25 Barnes & Nobles gift card for a book that I really really want.

If you want to earn some fun stuff, please join me and register here for your very own Swagbucks account and start earning.  Plus if you register through this link, you will get 30 free Swagbucks to get you started.  Awesome:)

Homemade Yogurt- Try New Adventures Thursday

I have been wanting to do this for some time now but just couldn't find the time.  I am so happy that I finally took the jump and made my very own homemade yogurt.  It is so creamy and yummy.  I can't keep the boys out of it:)  Plus I don't have to worry about what is in it- like preservatives, artificial stuff and loads of sugar.  I know whats in it- I made it:)

I found a great tutorial and got to work:

I was lucky to find a half gallon of whole milk at Kroger marked down to 1.89 and used 1 Kroger brand vanilla yogurt cup.

First, I poured the half gallon of milk into the crockpot.

I cooked it on low for 2 and a half hours.  I then unplugged it and let it sit for 3 hours.

After letting it sit for 3 hours, I took out 2 cups of the warm milk and added my cup of vanilla yogurt and whisked it real good.

And added it back into the crockpot with the rest of the warm milk.
I put the top back on and wrapped a nice big warm towel around it and tucked it under real good and let it sit for 8 hours.  I think the sitting of the mixture was the hardest part:)

I went on with my day and tried to patiently wait for the 8 long hours to pass so I could see my glorious creation.  Finally, 8 hours was up.  I unwrapped the towel with delight- you would have thought it was Christmas, I was so excited.  I opened the lip and scooped out the nice and creamy yogurt into a container to once again wait.  It was a little on the runny side. So, I put the yogurt into a container and put it in the fridge to thicken up.
We have yogurt- YEA!!!  I was surprised when the boys ate it plain.  I also use it to make smoothies- Mmmmm:)

It was so easy to make.  Waiting was the hardest part.  And the votes are in- the boys give it 2 thumbs up.  No more buying yogurt at the store for us:)

Well, that is our new adventure for this beautiful rainy Thursday.  What new adventure did you do today?

Swagbucks....

Swag what????

That is the response I get most often.  If you have never heard of Swagbucks, grab a drink, sit down and I will let you in on this awesome program.

If you are like me and do alot of searches on the Internet, why not get rewarded??  Why not get points for doing searches that you can turn into gift cards to places like Target, Walmart, Starbucks (my favorite), Amazon and so much more.

I have earned several Starbucks gift cards already and am so ready to cash out again- YEA!!!!  Last year, I was able to cash out my Swagbucks for Amazon gift cards that really helped out with Christmas (especially since the items I was buying my boys for Christmas I was able to get free shipping:))

You can even earn points for shopping online, answering polls, watching videos, etc.

It takes me a couple of minutes in the morning to:
Answer an simple daily poll = 1 Swagbuck
Skip through all the NOSO (no obligation special offers)= 2 Swagbucks
Watching short videos and inputting the numbers that scroll across the screen= 2+ Swagbucks (this morning I got 5)
I also get messages to watch the advertisement before a video and answer 1 question= 3 Swagbucks
Swagbuck TV= 3 Swagbucks for every 10 videos you watch

It may not seem like a lot of Swagbucks but believe me they do add up.  Plus add your searches on top and it adds up fast.  Like I said- why do your Internet searches for free- join me and get rewarded and turn your Swagbucks into something fun just for you:)  And it is FREE to sign up.

To sign up- register here and start earning- it is so simple, easy and fun:)

Fall weather

I love the fall- the warm, inviting, comforting, beautiful colors of fall.
I also love the cooler weather.  Time for soups and stews in the crockpot:) My mom also loved the colors of fall.  I can remember my mom telling me about her and dad driving to the Blue Ridge parkway and driving to see the awesome colors of fall.

When the weather started turning cooler here, I started getting excited.  Finally a break from the hot summer weather.  That is until one day it is 70+ degrees and the next it is in the 50's.  My poor head cannot take the temperature change.  My sinuses are going haywire.  I felt so bad and nauseous last week.  I could feel the icky sinus drainage down my throat- YUCK (sorry that is kind of gross).

And now the time change.  Everything was going fine that is until my phone, which is set on auto update decided not to update and woke me up at 5am instead of 6.  My poor body is having such a hard time adjusting to the time change.  I keep waking up an hour before my alarm.  Which leaves me so tired around afternoon.  I'm not sure which one I would prefer over the other- feeling nauseous and bad or being so dog dead tired by mid day.

I hope you all are adjusting to the time change better than I am.

I hope that the fall weather is beautiful for you:)  Hope you and your family have a blessed week.

Prayers needed..... **Updated**

Update- 10/28/2011- YEA!!!  Little Robbie Woods was found alive and was reunited with his family after being lost for 6 days.  I am so glad that he has been found and that he is safe:)  Thank the Lord for listening to our prayers and keeping this sweet angel safe until someone found him.  Thank you for all your prayers:)

There is a sweet 9 yr old autistic boy who needs our prayers right now.  He wandered away from his family on Sunday, Oct 23rd at North Anna Battlefield Park near Doswell, VA.

Robert Woods, Jr has been lost in the woods since Sunday.  It breaks my heart to think of this little boy lost and not being able to find his way to the warmth of his own house and bed.  Volunteers have searched for the last 2 days and have not been able to locate him.  And not being able to talk much makes the search much more difficult.

I know in my heart that my mom is with this sweet child.  I believe that she is wrapping her arms around him keeping him safe and warm through these very chilly nights.   That is what I am praying for.  I also pray that is he found and reunited with his family.  My heart aches and I would love to make the drive to search for this little one, but without a sitter and my hubby traveling- prayer is all I have right now.  Please pray for this child and keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.  You can read more about the updates or learn how to volunteer here.

I also have 1 more prayer request....

My cousin, who is more like a sister than a cousin, lost her mother in law this morning.  The family was about told about 3 weeks ago that her mother in law was losing her battle with pancreatic cancer.  She was told that the treatment was no longer working and her doctors gave her 6-8 weeks.  Hospice was called and in and Ashley and her husband went over and spent time with her- talking with her and letting her know that it was ok to go to heaven.  Linda passed away in the early morning hours this morning.  No more treatments, no more pain- the Lord will restore her physical well being.  And she would not be alone.  My mom will be there to greet her.  Please keep Ashley and her family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this difficult time.  I know all too well the pain in their hearts but like I told Ashley, the one thing that is keeping me going is knowing that when it is your time to go and be with our heavenly father it is not goodbye- it is until we meet again:)

Peace be with you and your families:)
