Our Family Fun Yard Sale

With the time we had available, we went through most of our house and got together the things we no longer needed or wanted.  We stored these items in my closet:)

The Saturday finally arrived where we didn't have any plans.  We made that Yard Sale Day:)  We even put a small ad in my our local paper, hoping that would draw people in.  Kevin made yard sale signs as part of his art project:)

The night before, I woke up to a nasty thunderstorm going on.  Super bright lightening and very loud booming thunder.  Even woke little munchkin up and he wondered in our room asking if he could sleep with us because he was scared.  He fell fast asleep- me not so much.

Morning came- ground damp but not soaking wet.  We decide to risk it and start putting everything from my closet out in the front yard.  We got everything set up:
I can't believe I had all this stuff in my closet.  The boxes in front are all kids clothes and there are 3 rows of boxes on the tarp:)

Hanging up clothes creatively:)
And of course, when we got everything put out and situated- yes it started raining.  We rushed what we could inside and then it stopped.  OK weather- make up your mind.  We started putting things back out and left all the kids clothes in the boxes in case we had to make a mad dash back inside.

People drove by and no one stopped :(  We remembered that we forgot to hang up the yard sale signs at the end of our road.  We were running all over the place trying to find the signs and had no luck.  The boys decided to take a sign and stand in our front yard and see if they could lure people in:
It worked~ people stopped by.  And between rain showers, more people came.  We didn't sell as much as I had hoped by we did make $50 and as my dad says that is $50 more than we started off with that morning:)

After all was said and done and we finally decided to call it quits.  We put all the adult clothes that were hanging up between vehicles in huge contractor trash bags.  We filled up 3 bags and off to Goodwill that went.  The boys clothes and baby stuff that didn't sell are going to find themselves at a consignment sale in a couple of weeks :)  And of course after we brought everything inside, we found the yard sale signs Kevin made.  That is how it usually goes:)

  1. I'm glad you guys still had fun, even if there were a couple of things that went awry, like the weather and the missing signs. At least now you know what to do the next time you're going to have one. Yard sale signs are definitely important; they not only announce about the yard sale, they also have to engage people to come.

    1. We did have fun despite all the extra issues. We did have yard sale signs, they just got misplaced until the yard sale was over- LOL:) We also had an ad in our local paper, so that helped quite a bit. Many thanks for the link, we will check that out. Take care :)
