Our Anniversary Trip

Everyone has been patiently waiting to find out where we traveled to this past weekend.  Along with some beautiful pictures I promised:)

Michael and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary.  And what did we do????  We went camping:)  All of the cabins were booked so we decided to ruff it in a tent- oh boy.  This country momma has never camped in a tent before.  So, this should be fun:)

We dropped the boys off at my inlaws- big thanks to them for keeping all the boys for the weekend and headed out to Hanging Rock State Park in North Carolina.  We got there and found our camp site just fine.  The camp site was at the top of a hill.  Many thanks to hubby for picking that particular camp site at the top of the big hill.  The bathrooms were at the bottom of the hill, the water spigot was at the bottom of the hill, the area to wash your dishes was at the bottom of the big hill- everything was at the bottom of the hill- well everything but us:)

We got to the camp site and attempted to put up our tent.  I have never put a tent up before so this should be interested.  I was pleasantly surprised by how easy this tent was to set up:)
We ate dinner and went out adventuring.  We forgot our water bottles- oops- bad idea.  We never made it to our destination that night before giving up and heading back to our camp site before it got dark- oh and we forgot our flashlights.  We really weren't having a good first day:)  Let alone a good night- by evening, I really wasn't feeling well.  I ended up getting sick- so not good.  What an anniversary this was turning out to be.  Nothing says Happy Anniversary like throwing up- LOL:)

Saturday morning, I was feeling much better:)  After an eventful evening, waking up not to the sound of an alarm clock but to the beautiful singing of the birds was awesome.  We ate breakfast and set out for our adventure for the day at 8am.  We found out that when the trail was marked Strenuous- that meant- I don't think so:)  We did several easy and moderate trails, even though some of the easy- not so easy.  By dinner time, we were back at our camp site.  We ate and made one more adventure- we wanted to see if we could tackle the strenuous trail we never completed the night before.  This time we took our flashlights and plenty of water.  We pushed ourselves hard but ended up making it to the look out tower at the top of the mountain.  It was well worth it.  We ended up seeing 5 waterfalls and so many breath taking views.

It had started raining Saturday night and continued into Sunday.  Sunday was pack up day.  We decided that we really wanted to do 2 more trails.  We packed everything up and headed out to see one more waterfall and a cave.  We probably looked like the only 2 fools in the rain on the trails but we were determined.  What we saw was worth it.  We looked like a couple of drowned water rats:)

We were really glad that we went camping.  It gave us on opportunity to reconnect with one another.  Since Michael travels so much, this gave us a chance to do something that we never get to do when at home- a chance to talk and have deep meaningful conversations without interruptions.  We could just enjoy each other's company.

Here are some pictures of our trip we took~ Enjoy:)

Can't wait to see where our next adventure takes us:)
