With Christopher's work schedule all over the place, it is hard to plan Family Fun Days and field trips.
One of his longer work days, we made a quick trip to Manatee Park. The last time we visited Manatee Park, we were too late. The manatees had already headed north. We were told that they come back in November and December. So, we headed back over to see if we could catch a glimpse.
While at Manatee Park, we did get a great educational lesson on the creation of the park. The power plant is across the street and needed a run off for their super hot water. During the summer months, they have to cool down their hot water so that it will not hurt the animals in the water. But during the winter months, no cooling is needed and the manatees love the water temperature. She told us to keep an eye on the temperature in the Gulf of Mexico. When the Gulf temp is below 68 degrees, come back and the manatees should be there. A trip back to Manatee Park is in our future :)
Thanks to our crazy ever changing weather, the manatees had come but
had left when it got cold. The wonderful volunteer told us to come
back in January. So we shall see. We made the best of it and explored
Manatee Park before heading to pick Chris up from work.
I did get some pictures of our field trip:

Even though we didn't get to see the manatees, we still had a wonderful time. And the boys got to burn off some of their never ending energy:) I can't wait to see where our next Family Fun day/field trip takes us.
