Our Popcorn Experiment

With hot, sticky summer heat, we keep seeing commercials about not leaving your pets or kids in the hot car.  I have tried looking it up but cannot seem to find a specific temperature you car heats up to on a hot sunny day.  I know when we get into our van, it is sometimes too hot to get into right away.  Our van doesn't have an internal themometer but does have an external thermometer.  According to our van thermometer, we have been having 95- 98 degree days.

Nathan had an interesting question:
Can you pop popcorn in your van on a hot summer day?

Great question.  My answer- I'm not sure.  You want to test it out?  The look of delight on his face was priceless.

Nathan loves Science and doing any kind of experiments is right up his alley.

We put 1/3C of popping corn in 2 paper lunch bags.

One we placed on the dash board of our hot van:
The other bag we placed outside on our front porch railing:
What do you think?  Will it be hot enough to popcorn either outside or in our van?

We have no clue- the bags are still outside- we have to wait and see what happens :)
