We LOVE Summer Reading Programs here. I am very blessed my boys love to read or get read to, if you cannot read just yet. We love snuggling up and listening to a story or an adventure. Plus the boys love to get free things just for doing something they already love to do.
Here are some Summer Reading Programs you may be interested in for your kids:
Barnes & Noble has a Summer Reading Program called Imagination's Destination. You read 8 books and record them on the reading journal you print out from their website. Bring the completed reading journal to your local Barnes & Noble store by September 3, 2013 and get rewarded with a FREE book from the reading journal list. The reading journal list is broken down into 3 grade levels, Grades 1 & 2, Grades 3 & 4 and Grades 5 & 6. Click here for more information and to print out your reading journal.
Kid to Kid has a Summer Reading Program called Get Your Summer Reading On. Print out Kid to Kid's reading chart. Color one circle for every 20 minutes you or they read. Once you filled in all the circles, bring back the chart and you will get a book club card and get to choose a FREE book that day. Bring the card back for a free book, valued up to $1.99, every month for a year with any purchase. No purchase required for the first free book. One book club card per family. ~
At first we were not going to participate in this reading program due to having to make a purchase in order to get a free book and one card per family. I have 2 younger ones. How do I decide who gets the free book? Do I alternate between children? Then it hit me, it says with any purchase. So, as long as the books are $1.99 or less, each month the 2 younger boys can go and each pick out a book. One will be for free making both books about $1 each. I think we can handle that:)
Pizza Hut is sponsoring a Summer Break Reading Challenge Sweepstakes. This is for grades K-6. Visit here to sign up and print out the entry form. Read 5 books between June 15, 2013 and August 15, 2013, record them on the form and mail the form to address listed on the form. The Book it Program will randomly pick 50 winners. The Prize package includes: A tote bag, Diary of a Wimpy Kid Plush, Diary of a Wimpy Kid book, Diary of a Wimpy Kid DVD, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules DVD and a $20 Visa gift card:) Official rules can be read here.
Books A Million has a Summer Reading Program. Read any 6 books on the Summer Reading Form between May 19 & August 17, 2013. Parents must sign and verify the form. Bring completed form to your local Books A Million store and receive a Hoot or Chomp Backpack. All the details are here.
And last but not least, one of our favorite Summer Reading Programs is at our local library. Our local library has all kinds of programs for toddlers, young children, teens and adults. We have listened to fascinating story tellers, done cool crafts and been entertained by awesome performers. I have also had the pleasure of attending some of the adult programs offered and have learned how to make different cheeses, how to make natural food dyes and how to make sausage:) There is certainly something for everyone. Take a drive and visit your local library and see if they have any summer programs your family might be interested in.
