Purex PowerShot Review & Giveaway

WOW~ Purex has really out down themselves this time.  When I was first asked to review Purex PowerShot, I thought they were going to be the premeasured pods that you throw in the washer and walk away.  Boy was I wrong :)

Purex PowerShot detergent does the measuring for you.

New Purex PowerShot detergent simplifies the laundry routine by taking the guesswork out of measuring.  Purex PowerShot is the only bottle that automatically dispenses the right amount of super concentrated formula with 50% more stain fighting power in every drop.

I am in love with Purex PowerShot.  No measuring means no messes for me:)  I was constantly pouring the detergent into the cap, then pouring the cap into the dispenser and then putting the cap back on the bottle only for the last few drops to run down the bottle.  Then I might realize that in the process of pouring the detergent into the dispenser that some spilled and is now running down the washer :(
But no more :)  Purex PowerShot measures for you.  No drips and no mess.  And it is so easy to use.  Just open the cap, flip the bottle upside down to deliver one super concentrated dose of detergent.  Flip the bottle back upright and you are done.  The PowerShot engine automatically refills and is ready for the next load.  How crazy easy is that?

The built in auto-dosing technology in the bottle does the measuring for you, so there is no waste and results in a perfect clean every time.  1 flip for regular loads and 2 flips for large or in my house extra dirty loads :)
Purex PowerShot comes in 2 fragrances, Mountain Breeze and Natural Elements Linen & Lillies.

Now for the fun part.  Purex was so nice to give me 3 coupons good for 1 FREE bottle of Purex PowerShot detergent to bless my wonderful readers with.  And they didn't stop there, they also included (4) $1.50 Purex PowerShot coupons to give as well :)

To enter to win 1 of these coupons, simply leave me a comment below with your email address, so I can contact you if you win.

This giveaway will end on February 13, 2015. Winners will be selected using random.org and notified by email.

**The Purex brand provided me with a sample of Purex PowerShot detergent in exchange for a product review.  However, all opinions expressed here are my very own**

Adventure in Container Gardening

I am quite pleased with my little backyard container garden.  Especially, since it is technically winter.  Did I mention how much I LOVE Florida winters :)

Here are some pictures on my little container garden:
My tomato plant
Cherry tomato plant
Part of the cherry tomato plant that I thought had died now has live green leaves shooting off :)
My poor zuchinni plant :(  I don't think it was meant to be.
Green Pepper- mmmmm
Green Bean babies
I am super excited about my green bean babies.  I wasn't even sure it was going to grow.  Then last month, I had 1 green bean baby and I was doing the happy dance.  Now, I have 3- WOOHOO :)

Things are looking up for most of my container garden plants.  I think I will try my hand at the zuchinni plant later this year.

Our Saturday Fun Day

Those you of who I am Facebook friends with, you already know the fun details of my birthday celebration.

Well, I am officially out of my 30's. My dad told me that 40 was not too bad and to let him know how I feel in 20 years- Thanks Dad :)

I started Saturday with a trip to the Farmer Market and then off to the stores.  I did not want to go shopping on my actual birthday:)  Before heading out to the Farmer's Market, little Michael announced that he wanted to make me a cake.  But not any cake would do, he insisted that he needed to make me a Yoshi cake.  Who am I to argue- I do like Yoshi~ he is cute :)

I gave hubby the cake and frosting recipe and left for the Farmer's Market.  I was dreaded coming home.  I just knew that my kitchen would be a mess.  I had visions of cake batter all over the cabinets and frosting dripping from the ceiling.  I just knew that my 5 year old and 10 year old would be covered in a thick layer of flour:)

I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into a clean kitchen.  The cake was made and was cooling, waiting to be frosted~ yay :)

We fed the boys lunch and headed out for our own lunch date.  We had a gift card for Red Lobster.  It was a weird feeling not having the boys with us.  We actually were able to talk.  I must admit it was kind of nice.  We need to start making this a regular event.  We have lots of gift cards.

After lunch, we headed to the gun range.  Before my birthday, hubby asked how much we was allowed to spend.  He got a confused look on his face when I said $0.  I then suggested that we take the money we would normally spend on my birthday, his birthday and our anniversary and go to the gun range.  I wish I could have captured his expression.   He was grinning ear to ear.

I was nervous, I have never shot a gun before.  I had no clue what I was doing.  The guys at the range were nice and gave me detailed instruction on what to do and even made me do it.  I was doing fine until the shell casing bounced off the divider and hit me in the neck.  Wow- shell casings are hot.  I have a nice burn mark on my collarbone.  Note to self, next time, where a shirt that covers my collarbone :)  For a person who has never shot before, I think I did a darn good job:
After spending a few hours at the gun range, we made out way home.  I took care of my nice little burn while hubby made me a nice birthday dinner.  Little Michael could hardly contain himself.  He wanted to rush through dinner do he could get a piece of his cake masterpiece.  I think they did a really good job on the cake.  Hubby did the frosting:
The cake was super delicious.  I was so proud of my husband~ he helped Nathan and Michael make not only a cake but frosting from scratch.  Now, he has no excuse.  He usually tells me that he cannot cook and that he doesn't want to make anybody sick :)

I had a nice birthday day.  I got to have a lunch date and some range time with my hubby and then came home to spend the rest of the evening with my boys.  I am so blessed :)  So far 40 isn't so bad :)

Our 2015 Goals

Even though our 2015 goals are almost identical to our 2014 goals, we want to keep ourselves accountable by posting them.  Come along and see how much we accomplish this year.

So here goes, our 2015 goals in no particular order:

1) To not eat out or at least to not pay out of pocket, with the exception of tips. If we want to treat the family to a meal out, we will make sure we have a gift card to cover all of us.

2) Pay off our last 2 credit cards

3) Not to use any of our credit cards for 2015. To pay cash for everything.

4) To maintain our grocery budget. Our current grocery budget is $400 month for our family of 6. Our goal is to use up to that amount to feed our family healthy nourishing meals.  If we are lucky enough to come under our monthly budget, we will save that amount.

5) To create a monthly meal plan for our family, to use leftovers more efficiently and to make use of everything in our pantry and freezer.

6) Lose weight- My goal is to lose 10 lbs this year.

7) Complete the Couch to 5K with hubby

8) Morning devotions, prayer time and more bible reading

9) Monthly date night with hubby- whether we go out or stay at home, pop popcorn and rent a movie

10) To spend quality family time together. With everyones schedule and us running all over creation, I would love to spend more quality time together- no tv- us playing games, talking, enjoying each others company.  I think we are going to claim Saturday's as family fun day:)

11) Not to use our dryer to save on electricity and lower our electricity bill

12) To do 1 project a month and blog about it

13) My older boys want to run a 5K~ a color run to be more specific.  So, I am jumping on board with them, after I finish my Couch to 5K program :)

14) To make and use more non toxic cleaners

What goals do you have for 2015? I would love to hear them:)

Family Fun Adventure

Several people told us about Lakes Regional Park.  I am not sure why we hadn't already visited.  It may have been that it is in the next county over and 45 minutes away :(  Here is a cute 30 second YouTube video about Lakes Regional Park.

Chris had a Saturday off and we decided to pack a lunch and head on out.  Well most of us, the younger boys were super excited about taking a field trip but the older ones decided to sit this one out.  So the 4 of us packed up and headed out.

When we first got there, we had to pay for parking and then we set off on our adventure.  I was floored on how huge this place was.  There are several benches along the way to just sit and enjoy the gorgeous view.   We saw a wild bunny and even caught a glimpse of a huge turtle in the water.

The boys were really excited for the train ride.  It was a neat experience, we loved the Christmas villages, building, tunnel of lights and the train museum.

And of course, what is a trip to any park with out a nice long visit to the playground.  It is a great way to burn off that young energy:)

Here are some pictures of our adventure~ enjoy:
This is what happens when the older boys decide not to go :)
Boardwalk
Beautiful view of the bridge over the water

Walking Path

Michael trying to sneak to the bunny
Being silly
Train Ride
Tunnel of Lights

Really cool playground

We really enjoyed ourselves and the younger boys are itching to go back.  The older boys really missed out on this adventure.

I can't wait to see where our next Family Adventure takes us :)

December 2014 Goal Update

Let's see how we did with our December 2014 goals:

 1) To not eat out or at least to not pay out of pocket, with the exception of tips. If we want to treat the family to a meal out, we will make sure we have a gift card to cover all of us.
Doing fabulous with this.

2) Pay off 2 credit cards
Getting close to paying off another credit card :)

3) Not to use any of our credit cards for 2014. To pay cash for everything.
We did fantastic with this goal and paid cash.

4) To maintain our grocery budget. Our current grocery budget is $400 month for our family of 6. Our goal is to use up to that amount to feed our family healthy nourishing meals.  If we are lucky enough to come under our monthly budget, we will save that amount.
We did awesome and came in right at budget with a whopping $0.10 to spare :)

5) To create a monthly meal plan for our family, to use leftovers more efficiently and to make use of everything in our pantry and freezer.  Try our hand at freezer cooking.
Doing great with meal planning.

6) Lose weight- I need to get motivated to lose this baby weight- my goal is to lose 10 lbs this year.
Well, I was on the right track.  Hubby and I were walking every night.  I had lost 4 pounds.  I was so proud of myself.  Well, I found those 4 pounds.  Never guess where I found them, in the container of fudge and cookies that my brother and his girlfriend sent.  They were just so darn tasty, I couldn't help myself.  Can I hit the restart button?  That is what 2015 is for right~ LOL :)

7) Morning devotions, prayer time and more bible reading
Following a bible reading on my church's website:)

8) Monthly date night with hubby- whether we go out or stay at home, pop popcorn and rent a movie
We didn't do a date night.  We really need to start this back up again.

9) To spend quality family time together. With everyones schedule and us running all over creation, I would love to spend more quality time together- no tv- us playing games, talking, enjoying each others company.  I think we are going to claim Saturday's as family fun day:)
In December we visited Manatee Park and saw Santa and found a hidden playground :)

10) Not to use our dryer to save on electricity and lower our electricity bill
Doing great with this and haven't not used the dryer.  I am loving this weather.  I hang the clothes up on clothes racks and next day they are dry:)

11) To do 1 project a month and blog about it
With everything going on, we didn't get a chance to do our monthly projects for a couple of months now :(

How did you do on your December goals?
