4 weeks to a More Organized Home series~ Day 15 Results

How did your Friday go?  Were you able to get all your weekly goals accomplished?

Today was a sleepy kind of day- boy was I dragging.  But we made it through.  We didn't get much done in the housework department but we did have fun and enjoy ourselves.  We cuddled on the couch and watched a little Netflix while Kevin worked on his school work.  We made some pancakes for the freezer and had a blast whipping up some chocolate chip cookies.  Little Kevin had a blast cooking in the kitchen- he loves being my helper.

Here is how we did with our assignment today:

Today's assignment was to:

Get dressed in something that makes you feel great- Done

Sit down with a cup of coffee or tea, refer to your weekly goals and make a list of no more than 5-7 specific things you want to accomplish today
My weekly goals
Get some baking done- Got chocolate chip baked oatmeal, 3 loaves of banana bread (2 in the freezer) and pancakes done
Put up and decorate Christmas tree- Got Christmas tree up and decorated
Homeschool- Ongoing
Read to little Michael before nap and bedtime- Ongoing
Walk at least 5 miles for 5 days- Walked 1.5 miles today
Portion and freeze cheese- Hooray we finally got the cheese divided and in the freezer
Work on and email Christmas lists- Got everyone's list typed out, emailed and printed out for my dad
Work on menu plan and shopping list for December- Got 3 weeks of December menu planned
Dinner prep done early- got beans simmering for tomorrow nights dinner and got the potato soup on early and let it cook:)
Label Scentsy catalogs and samples- Done

Wipe down your computer, clean out your email box, organize files and photos on your computer, if you have time- Did not get all the way done- was able to get some of my emails cleaned out and some pictures deleted from my blog to make room for more pictures.

Set the timer for at least 15 minutes and do something you really enjoy and that relaxes and rejuvenates you~ we made chocolate chip cookies, cuddled and watched Netflix with my little munchkin and even had a much needed nap:)  It kind of went over 15 minutes but we enjoyed every minute of it:)

Wow- looking at my weekly goal list, we were able to get them all done with the exception of walking 5 miles everyday.  Will try to do better on that next week:)

How did have you done with the weekly goals you set for yourself?  Post below and let me know:)

We hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend.  We have a busy Saturday ahead of us filled with Lowes Build & Grow Clinic, a local arts and craft show and our local Christmas Parade:)

4 weeks to a More Organized Home series~ Day 15

I am tired~ someone under the age of 4 decided that he didn't feel like going to bed until around midnight.  I have to get up at 6am to get breakfast ready, lunches packed and the boys that attend school up.  That certain someone mentioned above then decided it was time to rise and shine at 6:30 this morning.  Oh boy, he has been some kind of cranky so far today.  I think a nap is calling both our names:)  So, I am not sure how much of today's assignment we will get done, but we shall see.

Today's assignment is to:

Get dressed in something that makes you feel great

Sit down with a cup of coffee or tea, refer to your weekly goals and make a list of no more than 5-7 specific things you want to accomplish today

Wipe down your computer, clean out your email box, organize files and photos on your computer, if you have time

Set the timer for at least 15 minutes and do something you really enjoy and that relaxes and rejuvenates you

Don't forget to come back this evening and see how we did with today's assignment. Plus come back and let me know how today worked for you:)

Coffee Mate Bliss Coffee Creamer Facebook coupon

I was on my coffee creamer coupon search.  I have cut and clipped all the paper coupons I could find.  I am not brand loyal to any coffee creamer.  If it tastes good, I will use it.

It hit me to check on Facebook to see if any of the coffee creamer companies had any good coupons available.  I hit the jackpot~ Coffee Mate Natural Bliss has a $1.50 printable coupon available on their facebook page.  The Walmart in our area has Coffee Mate Bliss coffee creamer for around $1.78, use this coupon and you will only pay around $0.28 for a bottle of coffee creamer- yay:)

I was able to print 2 Coffee Mate Natural Coffee Creamer coupons.  If you are in the market for cheap coffee creamer, then head on over to the Coffee Mate Natural Bliss facebook page or click here and print it out:)

How was your day today?  I hope today brought you joy:)  Today was good for us.  Kevin continued to plug away at his school work- he got behind but is now catching up.  Little Michael and I had a lovely day complete with cars, play dough soup and ice cream, drawing on the chalkboard, coloring and a nice relaxing nap:)  We went to the Library toddler program only to find out that the rest of the kids were sick, so it was cancelled:(  Little Michael was sad but went over to the dvd's and picked out a Dora and a Diego dvd all was good.  Plus we came home and made delicious chocolate chip pancakes for dinner- mmmmm.

Doesn't it look tasty- LOL:)  We had a great time pretending

Lowes Build & Grow Clinic ~ 12/01/2012

Lowes will be hosting a Build & Grow Clinic on December 1, 2012 at 10am.

If you are looking for a great free activity that you can do with your kids- you should check out the Lowes Build & Grow Clinics. Little Michael and Nathan love them. They love being able to do hands on projects with our help.

This Saturday, Lowes Build and Grow Clinic will be building Sandman's Plane.

To sign up for this Build & Grow Clinic, simply go to the Lowes Build & Grow Clinic website, which they have redone to make it more user friendly. I am loving this new website. You register all your information. Then when you visit the website to sign up for an upcoming clinic, all you have to do is sign in and check which kids you are signing up. Don't forget to print and sign the waiver. And you and your child(ren) are ready for a really cool FREE hands on project.

Once you and your child(ren) complete the project they will receive a neat patch to put on their Lowes Build & Grow apron. If this is your first clinic, your child(ren) will receive a free Lowes Build & Grow apron and goggles:) The more clinics you do, the more patches you get to put on your kids apron and they can show them off with pride:)

4 days to Catch Up Declutter Challenge~ Day 4

We hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.  We had a great time with Michael's mom side of the family.  Since my dad went to SC with his girlfriend to spend Thanksgiving with her family and his sister, this is the first year we haven't spent Thanksgiving together- it felt weird not seeing my dad for Thanksgiving.  We did have a great conversation on the phone.

Today bring us to the last declutter challenge for this week.  Crystal from moneysavingmom.com will take back over tomorrow with her 4 weeks to a More Organized Home series:)

Today's assignment is to:

Look over your list of weekly goals and pick what you would like to accomplish today. Or if you are like me instead of making a 2nd list of things to do, start crossing things out on your master list.

Do a quick pick up of your house- make sure everything is in its place, dust, vacuum, etc- do whatever you have the time and energy to do

Get rid or, donate. give away or sell at least 1 item today- if you have more, great:)

Come back this evening and see how we did. Plus let me know how you did with today's assignment:)

Have a super terrific awesome amazing day:)

Our Homeschool Field Trip to Mount Vernon

At the beginning of November, we were given the awesome opportunity to go on a Homeschool field trip to Mount Vernon with a bunch of other homeschoolers.  It was great.  We had a lot of fun.  Here are some pictures of our field trip:
Washington's Tomb- little Michael got to lay a carnation at the tomb

Tulip Poplar Circa 1766

Making candles
Beautiful stain glass

Washington's 7 year crop rotation

Washington's 2 story 16 sided barn

Horses would tread wheat and the seeds would fall through the cracks in the floors and would be collected below

Cutie on the bridge

Started out by playing games from that time period- ended up sword fighting:)

Kevin

Front of Washington's mansion

Back of Washington's mansion
We learned so much information.  Little Michael got to lay a rose at the gate of Washington's tomb- did you know that there are 57 family members buried behind the black door in the photo above?  George and Martha Washington had no kids together.  Interestingly, Robert E. Lee married Mary Anna Randolph Custis, who was step great grand daughter to George Washington.  I thought that was pretty neat as my family has ties to Robert E. Lee.  Also, did you know that George Washington's owned about 8 sets of dentures?  All of them believed to be strictly cosmetic and not to use to eat.  I could spend hours telling you all the interesting stuff we learned.  If you haven't made a trip to Mount Vernon- I strongly urge to go- so much information to learn.

Since our trip to Mount Vernon, I have become increasingly interested in researching my family history.

There is so much to do and see, we want to go back and take everyone with us next time:)

4 days to Catch Up Declutter Challenge~ Day 2 & 3 Results

I did promise you the events from that yesterday that prevented me from posting last night.  Hmmmm- where to start:)

We spent most of the morning on the phone with Lowes who was on the phone with the builders who cut our counter.  They made the sink hole wayyy to big and our sink will fall right through- nice huh?  Lowes has been great.  The builders not so much.  They decided that they didn't have a template to accommodate our sink hole, so they wanted us to create one.  Luckily, my hubby has an amazing art talent and was able to create a whole plan for the counter.  Lowes was so appreciative and reordered the countertop at their cost.

Hubby goes to Lowes and drops off the plans.  Everything was going great.  He pulled into the driveway, put the van in park, turns off the engine and gets out.  Next thing we know, the van is rolling down the driveway with no one in the driver seat- crazy.  Hubby jumps in the van and notices that the van is locked in neutral.  It will not come out of neutral.  Not good- with a family our size we didn't have another vehicle that could accommodate us if something should happen.  We called my dad and he had our other van finished all except an oil change, which can wait.  We just had to drive the hour down to his house to pick it up.  We eat dinner and start our journey down to my dad's house in my hubby's work vehicle- shhhhh don't tell the boss:)  Traffic was horrible, it took way too long to get to my dad's house.  It is dark and driving on 95 is already not my favorite thing.  I am terrified to drive at night- I don't like it.  I cannot see with other headlights coming at me.  But I had no choice but to suck it up and drive the van back home.  We got home later than I would have liked to but we got home safe with a working vehicle- yay:)  When it rains, it pours- LOL:)  And of course, my dad left for SC last night- if the van had of broke today, we would have been in trouble.

SO, that was our adventure yesterday.  I hope the last 2 days have been good ones for you.  I can safely say that there is never a dull moment at this house:)

How did you with yesterday and today's assignments?  Here is how we did:

Look over your list of weekly goals and pick what you would like to accomplish today. Or if you are like me instead of making a 2nd list of things to do, start crossing things out on your master list.
- Homeschool- Ongoing
- Get major laundry pile caught up- Did 4 loads in the past 2 days
- Pay bills - Done
- Read to Michael before nap and bedtime- Ongoing and going great
- Make breakfasts ahead of time and stick in freezer- pancakes, banana bread and baked oatmeal
- Work on Living Room- Got living room picked up, vacuumed, dusted
- Work on Kitchen- Scrubbed the stove until my arm felt like it was going to fall off- still more to do
- Work on bathrooms
- Baked carrot experiment
- Freeze shredded cheese
- Go through toy box
- Go through 1 bag a day of clothes
- Work on Christmas lists

Do a quick clean up of your Kitchen & bathroom- make sure everything is in its place, clean the sink, mirror, potty and shower, sweep and mop the floor- do what ever you have time to do- Got the stove cleaner than it was but still have more to clean.  Still have counters and kitchen table to scrub, floor to sweep and mop.  Didn't get to do the bathroom today.  We had to un-smoke our van- that took some time this afternoon.

Get rid or, donate. give away or sell at least 1 item today- if you have more, great:) - We have found some things to throw away- like the nasty candy blood and the vampire fangs that were way to big.  We also went through and threw out all school work out of Nathan's book bag.

How did you with the past 2 days of your catch up declutter challenge?  Comment below- I would love to hear all about your day:)

4 days to Catch Up Declutter Challenge~ Day 3

Remember my today is going to be a good day chant?  Well, you may have guessed by my not posting last that that was short lived.  We spent most of the morning on the phone with Lowes who was on the phone with the builders- what a mess. Then our van decided to take a drive down the driveway by itself- what fun:)  Will go into more details this evening.

Let's dive right into today's assignment, shall we:

4 days to Catch Up Declutter Challenge~ Day 1 Results

I really hope you all had a better day than we did.  I had such big plans for today that will now have to get worked into tomorrow if we can.

I had a not so great weekend and was feeling kind of down but a quick text from my little brother and an email from my sister quickly changed my mood.  Thanks you guys~ I love you:)

Today was our shopping day.  We headed out this morning to go to Toys R Us to get some Christmas shopping done.  The store was busy but not too bad.  The lines at the registers were long.  We lucked out and found 2 things we wanted to get the boys for Christmas.  We were looking for one last toy- we searched high and low.  Toys R Us had remodeled since we were last there, so we had no clue where anything was.  Finding someone to ask a question- good luck.  I stood in the Customer Service line for a not so happy employee to help me and basically give me a generic answer as to where to find this certain game.  No luck.  After spending 2 hours too long in the store, we paid for what we had found and left.

Next we went to CVS to do some shopping there.  I got the items I was looking for and proceeded to the register.  I informed the cashier that I had misplaced my card and given her my phone number.  She rang up my items and went to scan my ECB's when the register beeped and told her that the ECB's didn't match the card number from the phone number given.  The cashier was nice and tried every number I could think of.  Nothing worked.  I left the store and called CVS customer service who proceeded to tell me there was no phone number listed for the card number I had.  I went back into the store and asked if I had the physical card number if they could look it up that way.  The young lady had no clue how to do that but the store manager did.  So yay- I was able to get the items I wanted to get:)

At the end of our shopping day, it was nearing 4pm- loooong day.  We went to Lowes to pick up our very pretty counter top.  It looks great.  Michael took all the back seats out of the van so we could get the counter in the van.  We were so happy.  We got home and looked at the counter again and measured it to our current counter.  The sink hole that they cut was too big- our sink would fall right through.  Ugggg.  We called Lowes and of course the company who did the counter was closed for the day.  They are going to follow up tomorrow.

What a long shopping day.  I did get some great deals- so for that I am happy.  As far as today's declutter assignment, I got none of it done :(  Hope you all did better than I did.  Tomorrow is a new day and I don't have any where to go.  So, I think it is going to be a declutter kind of day.  Plus the hubby is home this week, so I can put him to work:)

How did you do with today's assignment?  Post below and let me know, I would love to hear about it:)  See you all tomorrow morning.

4 days to Catch up Declutter challenge

I have really enjoyed Crystal's 4 weeks to a More Organized Home Series so far.  She has decided to take this week off due to the Thanksgiving holiday.  I was thinking about how much I need to get caught up since we had to stop in the middle of her series.  Thanksgiving is not at my house so I have no one coming over.  I am in charge of bringing drinks for Thanksgiving, so I have nothing to prepare.  So, I am going to attempt to get caught up and get some of this clutter either organized or out before hopping back on the 4 weeks to a More Organized series train next week:)

Whose with me?  Ready?  Let's go:

Today's declutter challenge is to:

Make a list of 10 weekly goals you would like to accomplish this week (I really like this idea)

Get rid or, donate. give away or sell at least 1 item today- if you have more, great:)

4 weeks to a More Organized Home Series~ Day 10 Results

Well, today was better than yesterday except that I had a very super cranky toddler that fought to not take a nap.  I won- he fell asleep watching Psych on Netflix.  It never fails- if you want him to go to sleep, put on Psych and he sings the opening song and goes right to sleep- LOL:)  When he is tired, he asks to read a book and then tells me it is I know you know time- got to love that kid:)

How did you do with today's assignment?  Here is how we did:

Today's assignment was to:
- Get dressed in something that makes you feel great~Done

- Sit down with a cup of coffee or tea, refer to you weekly goals and make a list of no more than 5 - 7 specific things you want to accomplish today
Here are my weekly goals:
- Pay bills- Done:)
- make new baked oatmeal recipe- Done and loved it:)
- make blueberry muffins- Done
- make homemade syrup- Done
- make pancakes- Done
- get caught up on the huge laundry pile- was able to wash 1 load of laundry today
- walk at least 5 miles per day- Walked 2 miles on treadmill at gym:)
- go through 1 bag of clothes per day- not doing so well with this one
- continue to read to little Michael before nap and bedtime- Doing this and loving it. Little Michael loves any and all one on one time with mommy:)

- Dust all ceiling fans and light fixtures- got ceiling fan dusted.  Light fixtures are lined up for tomorrow- watch out cobwebs:)

- Set the timer for at least 15 minutes and do something you really enjoy and that relaxes and rejuvenates you- hmmmmm- I don't think you can call watching Netflix with a screaming crying refusing to nap child relaxing.  I will make sure the hubby gives me a back rub this evening- that should be relaxing.

Crystal is not planning on posting to her 4 weeks to a More Organized  Home next week since it is Thanksgiving.  We are not having any one over for Thanksgiving and will be spending it with Michael's mom.  So, I am thinking about posting a 4 day (Mon, Tues, Wed & Fri) catch up for those who didn't get a chance to start from the beginning of Crystal's 4 weeks to a More Organized Home Series or for those like myself that had to take a break in the middle.  What do you think?  Not sure what to call it.  Any ideas?  Have a great and safe weekend:)

4 weeks to a More Organized Home Series~ Day 10

Yay~ It's Friday:)  Ready for the last installment for this week on Crystal's 4 weeks to a More Organized Home series?  So far, everything in Crystal's series has been easy and very manageable.  Even though we had to take a break in week #1, it was easy to jump right back on board when we were ready.

Today's assignment is:
- Get dressed in something that makes you feel great

- Sit down with a cup of coffee or tea, refer to you weekly goals and make a list of no more than 5 - 7 specific things you want to accomplish today

- Dust all ceiling fans and light fixtures

- Set the timer for at least 15 minutes and do something you really enjoy and that relaxes and rejuvenates you

Come back this evening and see how we did with today's assignment:)

4 weeks to a More Organized Home Series~ Day 9 Results

Hope your day went better than mine did.  This morning, little Michael decided it was time to get up at 5am.  I was already up at 5am to do my 5 mile dvd walk- well that didn't happen as planned at 5am.  But that is OK- I did get to do my 5 mile walk on dvd before lunch.  But I felt like my whole day was thrown off.  I wanted to cook beans in the crockpot for dinner- they take all day to cook.  I got the beans in the crockpot and put 12 cups of water in and attempted to turn on the crockpot.  Only, it seems my crockpot is on strike.  It won't turn on- it flashes at me but will not turn on- grrrrr.  OK- regroup- put the beans and water in a big pot on the stove.  Dinner did get home on time.  I also got to the gym for a 2 mile de-stress on the treadmill:)  It's funny how it only takes a few minor issues to throw you off your game.
