Kevin's Birthday Party

Kevin had his birthday last month, he turned the big 1-5- oh my:)  Can you believe it?  Where is the time going?  My boys seem to be growing up and becoming young men before my eyes.  I remember when I brought Kevin home from the hospital.  My, how he has changed but changed in a good way.  I am so blessed to have such a smart and talented son.

Kevin decided that for his 15th birthday he would like to go roller skating.  Even though he doesn't know how to skate, he decided that he would give it a go.  He invited a couple of friends and off to the skating rink we went.

The skating rink gave us a "Party Room" for 45 minutes.  Kevin didn't want traditional cake and ice cream for his birthday.  He wanted me to make my yummy delicious giant cookie.  I wish I had gotten a picture of it.  It was a big hit and so yummy.

Kevin had a blast trying to figure out to skate:
Sorry for the quality of the picture. Abesent minded me forgot to bring my camera, so these was taken with my husband's phone.
Nathan & Daddy skating

Chris coming around the corner
Everyone had a great time.  Even though we are not a skating able family, with the exception of Michael- he knows how to roller skate.  I hadn't been roller skating in many moons.  Luckily, I had my brother there to help me take a few laps around the rink while my dad watched little Michael.

Still cannot believe that he is 15.  He is counting down to learner's permit and driver's license- now that make me nervous:)

My 2012 Monthly projects

Oh wow- where has January gone to??  I wanted to post this earlier in the month but things kept coming up.  And now February is almost here- yikes!!  So far this year seems to be zooming by.  It needs to slow down a little.

I thought it would be neat to complete a new project each month.  Crystal from Money Saving Mom did this last year and is doing it again this year.  I thought it would great for me to tackle some projects of my own:)

Here are my upcoming projects:

January- Make and can pear butter- did great with this.  Pear butter is so yummy:)

February- Make apple, banana and pear chips using my handy dandy dehydrator I got for Christmas- did great with this- so delicious:)

March- Make foaming handsoap- this one turned out great:)

April- Make and hide a letterboxing box- didn't get to do this one :(

May- Replace our kitchen counter and sink and to do some much needed painting- we didn't get our kitchen counter replaced as we had hoped to.  My dad was supposed to help us replace our kitchen sink and counter but got hurt at work.  So, we had to put this one off.  But we did get most of our front porch painted:)

June- Make Homemade ice cream with the Ice Cream maker I got for Christmas- did this and it was so yummy:)

July- Make frozen yogurt using the Ice Cream maker I got for Christmas- got this one done in August instead of July.

August- Make face wash- didn't get this one done :(

September- Make dry laundry detergent- we have tons of laundry detergent already and didn't have a chance to make homemade laundry detergent :(

October- Make glass cleaner- Got this one done and it worked great.

November- Make Lysol wipes- didn't get to do this one.

December- Make homemade taco and chili seasoning

I am so excited to take the challenge of a monthly project.  I will let you all know how they turn out as I do them.

Do you have any projects you would like to accomplish this year?

Happy Birthday:)

Yesterday was my birthday.  The morning started kind of BLAH!!!!  While I was happy that the Lord had waken me to share this day with my kids, I still felt so alone.  Michael is away on business all week and this is the first birthday I get to celebrate without my mom.  I miss her terribly.

I logged onto Facebook and was blown away by the amount of awesome birthday wishes.  It was almost like a big virtual hug and I needed that.  Thanks.  I am so blessed to have amazing family and friends, even though we are all scattered all over the United States.

I was surprised to get a phone call from my dad wishing me a happy birthday.  He usually is no good with dates and I checked, my birthday was not written on his calender.  I do believe that my mom gave him a little nudge from heaven and reminded dad to give me a call~ Thanks mom:)  That phone call made my day:)

My day went on as normal.  I guess someone forgot to tell the dust bunnies and dinner that it was my birthday.  But that is OK- I needed the distraction.

I did get a nice birthday gift from Chris and Kevin.  They both ranked up with Air Force JRTOC.  Kevin went from Airman Basic (no rank) to Airman.
Kevin with his very first ranks:)
Christopher ranked up from Tech Sergeant to Master Sergeant.
Chris so proud of his new ranks
I wanted to get a picture of Chris with his new ranks in his uniform but as you can see that didn't happen.  He is actual in shorts.  Usually as soon as he hits the door, the uniform is coming off.  Have you ever seen the show- The Middle?  Well, Christopher is our Axl.  Except that thankfully Chris doesn't wander around the house in his boxers.  It is usually what ever he has slept in from the night before.

Nathan was happy that the tooth he has been wiggling for a while now finally fell out at school.
Nathan with his crazy look I lost my tooth face

Unfortunately, he lost his tooth at school and was kind of bummed out about it.  Until he learned that we were having homemade pizza for dinner on Friday- he forgot all about his lost tooth.  Got to love him:)

Even though my birthday started on a sad note it ended great.  Little Michael and I ended up spending the day playing and having a great time.  I am one happy mama and so proud of all my boys.

My Shopping Day- 01/09/2011

Today was a nice rainy day, they were calling for snow but that changed into rain.  The kids were really hoping for snow and no school.  I would have loved to see just a dusting but that didn't happen.  My dad says that the farmers almanac is saying that near the end of January, Virginia is going to see quite a bit of snow.

Michael, little Michael and I went to the store and you would have thought that they were calling for a blizzard.  The bread was gone and the milk was almost gone.  And all we got was rain:)  Luckily, I don't shop at just one store for my groceries so we made out well finding what we needed.

$325.69 Running Total for January 2012

Our 2012 Goals

I know I am behind on blogging.  I am trying to get caught up but between meals, kids, potty training, mountain of laundry ( I kid you not, the mountain of laundry is taller than my 2 yr old.  But that is what happens when you are gone for a couple of weeks), homework, vet appointments- I am exhausted by the end of the day.

Here are our 2012 Goals:  (in no particular order)

1) To not eat out or at least to not pay out of pocket, with the exception of tips.  If we want to treat the family to a meal out, we will make sure we have a gift card to cover all of us.

2) Pay off 2 credit cards

3) Not to use any of our credit cards for 2012.  To pay cash for everything.

4) To lower our grocery budget.  Our current grocery budget is $400 month for our family of 6.  Our goal is to lower that amount and to save the remainder.

5) To create a monthly meal plan for our family, to use leftovers more efficiently and to make use of everything in our pantry and freezer.

6) Unclutter the house and become more organized:)

7) Lose weight- I need to get motivated to lose this baby weight- my goal is to lose 20 lbs this year.

8) Morning devotions, prayer time and more bible reading

9) Monthly date night with hubby- whether we go out or stay at home, pop popcorn and rent a movie

10) To spend quality family time together.  With everyones schedule and us running all over creation, I would love to spend more quality time together- no tv- us playing games, talking, enjoying each others company

11) Not to use our dryer to save on electricity and lower our electricity bill

12) To make a better effort to blog more regularly and to make a blogging schedule

13) To make much needed house repairs

14) To fix the car that is sitting in our driveway so that whoever gets their drivers license first will have a car to drive or share if they both get their license at the same time

15) To do 1 project a month and blog about it- will post the list of projects soon

What goals do you have for 2012?  I would love to hear them:)

We are home:)

We had so much fun in Florida.  The 13 hour drive seemed so long but when we were down there the days seemed to fly by so much faster.  I felt we needed a vacation from our vacation.  We tried to pack in so much for the days we were down there.  We did have fun and made some amazing memories.  Will be sharing lots of pictures of all our fun later this week.

We came home on Christmas Eve.  We spent Christmas Day with my dad.  This is the first Christmas with out my mother.  It was hard but I know that she is watching over us.  That helps alot.  We had Christmas dinner with my mother in law.

We came home long enough to wash whatever we were taking to North Carolina with us and left to spend New Years with my inlaws.

We traveled so much this year and while we enjoyed our selves and spending time with our family, I am glad to be home.  Not so much for the taller than my 2 year old pile of clothes to wash but I am happy to be in the comforts of my own home with my husband, boys and pets.

I look forward to getting caught up with blogging and sharing with you own amazing experiences.

We hope that your Christmas and New Years were beautiful, safe and were able to share it with your loved ones.  Hope 2012 is an amazing year for you all:)
