Our Crazy, Fun and Busy Week......
I was going to post about our Fun Family Saturday Adventure and then I remembered we didn't have one :) Since I was a volunteer with our church's Vacation Bible School last week, we decided that we would take the weekend and rest and try to recuperate :) (I am still recuperating~ LOL :)
My mom always volunteered with VBS and I always thought that it was because the church needed her to. Both her and my dad volunteered quite a bit with whatever our church needed. My dad started the wood ministry, which was a huge blessing at winter time. They were well known through out the church.
I was never able to go to VBS due to the long drive, it was over an hour from our house to church. People always thought we were crazy for driving that long distance instead of finding a church closer to our home. Now, that I look back, I am so happy that we decided to make the drive to church and then have lunch with my parents after church every Sunday. I am so blessed with the time we were able to spend with my mom before she passed away.
Anyhow, I am getting side tracked (me and my ADD :)) I never fully understood what VBS meant to my mom until this year. I decided to be a crew leader this year with our church. I had no clue what I was in for:) We had 12 kids.
I thought my 4 kept me busy- oh my. Thank the Lord for my helper, David, who was a huge blessing and help with all the kids. To step back and watch this rising high school senior interact with a bunch of wild and crazy kids was priceless:) I was blessed to have David on my team~ I couldn't have done it without him:)
To be able to love on these kids, learn with these kids and have a blast, I finally get it. I now understand why my mom was so passionate about VBS. On the last day of VBS during clean up, I was chatting with one of the wonderful women who takes on organizing VBS, about my experience and I got teary eyed thinking of my mom. But I know she would have been so proud :)
If you have Facebook and want to see pictures of our week of VBS and some of me and my crazy hat, you can check out Day 1, Day 2, Day 3 and Day 4 :) I'm not sure why Day 5 hasn't made it up yet. I was looking forward to Friday's weird and crazy day pictures.
If my week wasn't crazy enough, we had another inspection on the house we are buying. We had a crazy 50+ page "novel" for our loan~ oh so much paperwork. But God is good, everything is coming along nicely and smoothly. If all keeps going in this direction, we should close on our new house in 21 days, not that we are counting or anything :)
I hope to fully "recuperate" soon and take my family on a Family Fun Saturday Adventure. Can't wait to see where it is going to take us :)

June 2014 Goal Update
Let's see how we did with our June 2014 goals:
1) To not eat out or at least to not pay out of pocket, with the exception of tips. If we want to treat the family to a meal out, we will make sure we have a gift card to cover all of us.
Did fabulous with this.
2) Pay off 2 credit cards
Still working on this- getting closer than we were last month :)
3) Not to use any of our credit cards for 2014. To pay cash for everything.
We did fantastic with this goal and paid cash.
4) To maintain our grocery budget. Our current grocery budget is $400 month for our family of 6. Our goal is to use up to that amount to feed our family healthy nourishing meals. If we are lucky enough to come under our monthly budget, we will save that amount.
We did ok in June and only went over by $12, which we were able to cover with May's leftover grocery money :)
5) To create a monthly meal plan for our family, to use leftovers more efficiently and to make use of everything in our pantry and freezer. Try our hand at freezer cooking.
Doing great with meal planning.
6) Lose weight- I need to get motivated to lose this baby weight- my goal is to lose 10 lbs this year.
We really need to be more motivated with this goal. With VBS, house hunting and bank paperwork, I haven't even though about exercising. Need to get better with this :)
7) Morning devotions, prayer time and more bible reading
Following a bible reading on my church's website:)
8) Monthly date night with hubby- whether we go out or stay at home, pop popcorn and rent a movie
We didn't have a chance to do a date night. We have a movie gift card, now we need to settle on a date :)
9) To spend quality family time together. With everyones schedule and us running all over creation, I would love to spend more quality time together- no tv- us playing games, talking, enjoying each others company. I think we are going to claim Saturday's as family fun day:)
June was Family Fun Month. We had a picnic at a park, we visited a Planetarium and had ice cream at a park. Throw in VBS and we had tons of fun :)
10) Not to use our dryer to save on electricity and lower our electricity bill
Doing great with this and haven't not used the dryer. I am loving this weather. I hang the clothes up on clothes racks and next day they are dry:)
11) To do 1 project a month and blog about it
With everything going on, we didn't get a chance to do our June monthly project let alone May's monthly project we keep putting on the back burner.
How did you do on your June goals?

Well, it is the beginning of the month grocery shopping for us. It is that time to stock up on most of our groceries for the month. Since we are trying to eat out of the freezer and pantry, we shouldn't need too much :)
Here is our shopping trip details:
