May 2017 Challenge Update

My May goal was to not eat after 8pm.  How has it been going?

The first week was hard.  With the longer daylight hours, we have been outside past 8pm.  We would come in, have our meds and dessert and not even realize it was after 8pm.

To help with this, I have set an alarm on my phone.  It goes off right at 8pm.  When it goes off, the boys know it is pill time and I know that I can't have anything else to eat.  When I get hungry after 8pm, I drink water.  That helps a lot :)

By 9pm, I get the boys ready for bed.  By the time they finally drift off to sleep and I can quietly escape their room, it is 10pm and I have forgotten all about being hungry :)

When I get up, I start my day with warm lemon water.  I then get the boys breakfast ready.  After that it is 8am and time for me to eat :)

So far so good :)

Here is our menu plan for this week:

Breakfast

May 2017 Challenge

Last month's 30 day challenge didn't go so well :(

But that is ok.  It is a new month with a new challenge.

For the month of May, I am challenging myself to not eat after 8pm.  I hope to be able to tame the late night snacking monster that always seems to pop up.

I eat a healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner.  I watch my snacking during the day but as soon as night hits I become hungry.  But not for real food but the yummy chocolatey version.  Which may be the reason I am not seeing any weight loss.

It seems that not eating at certain times of the day has an actual name~ Intermittent Fasting.  I have seen some people do intermittent fasting for 16 hours a day and only eat 2 meals through out the day.  I don't think I could do that. At least not at this moment.  I am trying to keep things simple.  It gives me a better chance at succeeding.  For this month, I am focusing on not eating past 8pm and eating breakfast at 8am.  Giving my body a 12 hour rest period.

Evidentially, intermittent fasting seems to have some health benefits~ who knew?  Miss Elena House has a great informative video on Intermittent fasting as well as the schedule she follows.

Let's see how this month goes :)

Do you do Intermittent Fasting?  What does your eating window look like?

Our Shopping Day~ 05/06/2017

We had our weekend planned with some much needed yard work.  We had no plans other than getting some things done around the house.  We had hedges that needed a much needed trim and bushes that had gotten so wild that they were setting off our security lights :(

The boys helped with the yard work.  They may have been bribed with a Menchi's trip :)

Everything was going great until we opened the PetSmart box.  We have the cat food and litter sent to us through PetSmart's autoship program.  We not only get a discount, get free shipping with no minimum purchase :)  We received the cat food but no the litter.  PetSmart informed us that the litter was out of stock.  So, having no plans to visit the store suddenly changed.  But not for grocery items, we just needed to pick up cat litter.  It was a quick and easy trip.  We took the boys to Menchi's to enjoy their frozen yogurt treat and then headed to Walmart to pick up cat litter while PetSmart figures out how long it is going to take to get the cat litter in stock.

Here are our shopping trip details:

Walmart
$6.34- Cat Litter

This trip will be included in our May Monthly Spending Post.  Our May Monthly Spending Post will be where we document all we spend over the course of the month.
