Adventures in Container Gardening

I finally made time to re do my container garden.  We have some great new additions and 2 original plants that have been with us from when we were in the rental house.

Kevin and I got busy dumping out and refilling all the containers:
I found these neat seed pods at Lowe's and were eager to test them out so we bought them and planted them.  Has anyone seen these before?  I had never seen these pods but they looked interesting.
We planted the seed pods and the live plants we had bought.  Before long, the seed pods were sprouting.  I was so happy.  May I introduce you to my 2015 container garden:
My container garden
Cucumber from the seed pod :)
Regular tomato plant
Red Pepper from the seed pod :)
Green Bean plants from seeds
Cherry yellow tomato plant
My original cherry tomato plant
My original green pepper plant
I am quite pleased with the way the container garden is coming along.  Keep your fingers crossed that this year will be a better year for my plants :)  My green bean plants seem to be responding a lot better this time around.  It could be that they got planted in the right season this time :)  We shall see how my container garden grows :)

Our Family Fun Saturday Adventure

We kept seeing signs advertising an air show.  We looked it up and decided we wanted to check it out.  This air show looked pretty cool.  People taking quite a bit of time constructing these awesome radio controlled airplanes and flying them at the airfield doing some pretty amazing tricks.

We loaded the younger boys and headed to the airfield:

Unfortunately, we were told the wrong times and arrived at the airshow at the end.  So we only got to see a couple of planes :(

We thought it might be nice to take the boys out for a special treat.  Michael really wanted Italian Ice but I didn't want to drive 45 mins across the bridge to get it.  Michael found really good ratings for an Italian Ice place right here in Cape Coral.  We decided to give them a try.

We are so glad we did.  As soon as we walked in the door at Zirilli's Chilly Treats, we were greeted so warmly.  We met the owners, chatted with them and found out that the ice is handmade right there and the ice cream is local.  And oh so yummy.  It is the best Italian Ice I have tasted.  I am so glad that we took a chance and visited them.  Every time we pass Zirilli's, the boys beg to go in and see what ice creams they have :)  I love that the flavors vary and the prices are very reasonable.

As you can tell, we had a very yummy Saturday Family Fun Adventure :)  I can't wait to see where our next family adventure takes us :)

Dial Kids Foaming Hand Wash & Baby Body and Hair Wash Review and Giveaway

For 67 years, Dial has been developing trusted personal care products for clean, healthy skin.  Dial is excited to announce its entry into the babies' personal care with Dial Baby Body & Hair Wash developed with pediatric dermatologists for babies' perfect skin.  It gently removes environmental dirt for a head to toe clean.

Dial Kid Foaming Hand Wash was developed with pediatric dermatologists and makes hand washing fun for all ages.  The formula is gentle on hands and kids' skin, helping parents make smart decisions when it comes to kids' perfect skin.

Dial Kids Foaming Hand Wash and Dial Baby Body & Hair Wash are both hypoallergenic, have no added parabens, no artificial dyes and are pH balanced.

My younger boys had the pleasure of testing both products and here is what we thought:

Dial Kids Foaming Hand Wash is great.  It dispenses just the right amount of nice foamy soap for kids to use.  It is gentle and easily rinses clean away.  We have crazy water here in Florida.  Sometimes, the water is hard and sometimes our water is too soft and it is hard to get any soaps off of us.  But Dial Kids Foaming Hand Wash washed clean away every time.
This is what happens when you turn your back just for a second to help with some school work and your 5 year old has a bingo marker :)
Nice and fluffy :)
I know that Dial baby body & hair wash is technically for babies, but we tried it out anyways.  Actually, even though my younger boys are passed baby stage, I still use baby shampoo and body washes on them.  I love the smell and we still have quite the stock pile from when my youngest was a baby.  So, why not use it, right?  I was quite disappointed that the Dial body & hair wash is fragrance free.  The product is nice and thick and still cleans nicely, just without the smell of traditional body and hair washes.  My boys skin was nice and soft and their hair was clean :)
How would you like to try out either Dial Baby Body + Hair wash or Dial Kids Foaming Hand Wash?  Dial was so wonderful to give me 3 coupons good for a FREE bottle of Dial Baby Body + Hair wash OR Dial Kids Foaming Hand Wash to bless 3 of my wonderful readers with :)

Entering into this coupon giveaway is super easy as always.  Just leave me a comment with your email address and you will be entered.  This coupon giveaway will end on May 8th at 11:59pm EST.

Good Luck :)

**Dial provided me with a sample of Dial Baby Body +Hair Wash and Dial Kids Foaming Hand Soap in exchange for a product review.  However, all opinions expressed here are my very own. **

Our Saturday Family Fun Adventure

Kevin went with his softball coach to the batting cages.  Unfortunately, the bating cages were all rented out :(  Kevin told me how cool the place looked.  I just had to find out if they had a website and they did.

I have passed by Mike Greenwell's Family Fun Park numerous times and had only seen the batting cages.  Evidently, there is so much more behind the bating cages.  A quick look on their website revealed Go Karts, Midway Rides, Arcade and Mini Golf.  It looked awesome.  We were looking for something fun to do with the boys and it is close to us :)  Mini Golf it is.

I had no clue that Mike Greenwell was a Boston Red Sox left fielder and was grew up in Lee County :)  So cool.

We loaded up the boys and set out for our Mini Golf adventure.  The mini golf prices are very reasonable :)  Even though it was crazy hot out, the mini golf is partially shaded so that helped.

Here are some pictures of our Mini Golf Adventure:
Someone forgot to tell Nathan that we were playing mini golf~ FORE!!
Much better
First time playing mini golf
Despite the hot temperatures, the boys all had a great time.  For first time mini golfers, they scored really well.  We poked around the arcade to cool off.  They also have a little playground that the boys just had to visit before we left.  We will have to come back and do the Go Karts another time.

I can't wait to see where our next Family Fun Adventure takes us :)

March 2015 Goals Update

How did we do with our March goals?  Let's see:

1) To not eat out or at least to not pay out of pocket, with the exception of tips. If we want to treat the family to a meal out, we will make sure we have a gift card to cover all of us.
Did fabulous with this goal.

2) Pay off our last credit card
Still chipping away at this.  The last card is a pretty hefty one :(  Still on Dave Ramsey's FPU Step 2 :)

3) Not to use any of our credit cards for 2015. To pay cash for everything.
Doing great with this :)

4) To maintain our grocery budget. Our current grocery budget is $400 month for our family of 6. Our goal is to use up to that amount to feed our family healthy nourishing meals.  If we are lucky enough to come under our monthly budget, we will save that amount.
Did great and had close to $8 left over :)

5) To create a monthly meal plan for our family, to use leftovers more efficiently and to make use of everything in our pantry and freezer.
Doing fabulous with this.

6) Lose weight- My goal is to lose 10 lbs this year.
March turned out to be a crazy month and exercising was not at the top of my to do list :(  But I have noticed by eating more fruits and veggies that my weight seems to be creeping down slowly :)  Plus, now that it is lighter longer, we can get out and play with the boys for a few hours after dinner :)  I have 6 more pounds to go before reaching my weight goal.

7) Complete the Couch to 5K with hubby
March was a super crazy month and we did not run at all in March :(

8) Morning devotions, prayer time and more bible reading
Doing great with our church's website, which will read the bible verses to you :)

9) Monthly date night with hubby- whether we go out or stay at home, pop popcorn and rent a movie
Did not have a date night :(  Need to figure something out with this.

10) To spend quality family time together. With everyones schedule and us running all over creation, I would love to spend more quality time together- no tv- us playing games, talking, enjoying each others company.  I think we are going to claim Saturday's as family fun day:)
Through all the craziness, we only went out to Calusa Nature Center.

11) Not to use our dryer to save on electricity and lower our electricity bill
Doing fabulous, by not using the dryer, I now have the electric bill down to what I was paying for our teeny house back in Virginia.  Not using the air or heat is a huge plus also.  Have I mentioned how much I LOVE Florida winters :)

12) To do 1 project a month and blog about it
We did not get a chance to do March's monthly project :(

13) My older boys want to run a 5K~ a color run to be more specific.  So, I am jumping on board with them, after I finish my Couch to 5K program :)
Still waiting to hear the color run date.  Which is great since my running days have kind of fizzled out :(

14) To make and use more non toxic cleaners
I am still researching and working on this one :)

How did you do with your March goals?

We hope everyone had a nice weekend.  We had a good and busy weekend.  I had it all planned out~ everyone was going to be up, fed and dressed by 9am, take Chris to work, head over to the Lowe's Build & Grow Clinic, make a stop by the Farmer's Market, take the boys to Build A Bear to spend their gift cards from Christmas, take everyone home, feed them lunch and then Kevin and I were going to head out to do our grocery shopping.  Well, that is how I had it planned out in my head.

It actually went something like this~ everyone was up, fed and dressed by 9am (yay), took Chris to work, made it to the Lowe's Build & Grow event, stopped by the Farmer's Market and took the boys to Build A Bear.  Then we loaded everyone back in the van came home for lunch.  I had planned to take Kevin grocery shopping with me but by the time we got home, I was exhausted.  I had it in my head to rest for a few minutes before heading back out.  Well, I kind of fell asleep until time to make dinner.  I guess I needed more than a few minutes of rest.  Oh well, we ended up going shopping after church on Sunday.

Dial Miracle Oil hand soap Review & Giveaway

Are you ready for another review and coupon giveaway :)  Here goes:

Experience Miracle Oil hand soap, featuring the first formula with Micro Oil technology.  New Dial Miracle Oil hand soap brings nourishment and skin hydration to your hand washing experience.  Let the smooth feel of Miracle Oil gently remove dirt from your hands and leave them feeling smooth and refreshed.

Miracle Oil is infused with Marula Oil and uses Micro Oil technology to nourish and deeply hydrate your skin while protecting it from skin damaging free radicals.

I am really enjoying the Dial Miracle Oil hand soap.  To be honest, it is in my bathroom away from all the boys :)  I love the nice light scent and the way it makes my hands feel after I use the hand soap to wash my hands.  I have already confessed to being a OCD hand washer.  I literally wash my hands a lot.  And because of my constant hand washing, my hands are usually super dry and cracked.  Dial Miracle Oil leaves my hands so soft and hydrated :)  Paired this with my Dial Miracle Oil body wash and I am one hydrated and happy momma :)

Want to see how Dial Miracle Oil hand soap works for you and/or your family?  You don't even have to share with your family if you don't want to.  It will be our little secret :)

Dial was so nice to send me 3 coupons good for FREE Dial hand washing products to bless my wonderful readers with.  They sent me a coupon good for a FREE bottle of Dial Complete Omega Moisture foaming hand wash, a FREE Dial liquid hand soap coupon and a FREE Dial Boutique Collection Sugar Cane hand soap :)

Entering my coupon giveaway is super easy.  Just leave me a comment below with your email address and Voila! you are entered :)

This giveaway will end on April 19, 2015. Winners will be selected using random.org and notified by email.

**The Dial brand provided me with a sample of Dial Miracle Oil hand soap in exchange for a product review.  However, all opinions expressed here are my very own**

Lowe's Build & Grow Clinic~ 04/11/2015

Lowe's will be hosting a Build & Grow Clinic on April 11, 2015 at 10am.  My younger boys love doing them and the older ones love helping the younger ones with their project:)

If you are looking for a great free activity that you can do with your kids- you should check out the Lowe's Build & Grow Clinics. Little Michael and Nathan love them. They love being able to do hands on projects with our help.

To sign up for this Build & Grow Clinic, simply go to the Lowe's Build & Grow Clinic website, which they have redone to make it more user friendly. I am loving this new website. You register all your information. Then when you visit the website to sign up for an upcoming clinic, all you have to do is sign in and check which kids you are signing up. Don't forget to print and sign the waiver. And you and your child(ren) are ready for a really cool FREE hands on project.

Once you and your child(ren) complete the project they will receive a neat patch to put on their Lowe's Build & Grow apron. If this is your first clinic, your child(ren) will receive a free Lowe's Build & Grow apron and goggles:) The more clinics you do, the more patches you get to put on your kids apron and they can show them off with pride:)

Saturday Family Fun Adventure

Every time I drive Chris to work and pick him up from work, I drive pass by a park sign.  I am not sure why I haven't paid any attention to it until now.  It kind of jumped out at me as I was taking Chris to work.  I came home and looked the park up online not sure really what to expect.  The park sounded like a neat place to visit, so we decided to go and check out the Jim Jeffers Park.

On our arrival, the first thing the boys noticed was the huge fenced in playground.  They were really begging hard to play on the playground but I knew that we wanted to explore the park grounds first.  They have a huge basketball area, tennis area, 4 soccer fields and a softball field.  There is also a walkway that takes you around the park and to a nice sized lake.

Here are some pictures of our adventure:

The younger boys could have cared less about the walk way to the lake and the ducks.  They loved the huge playground.  I tried to get pictures of them playing but they were all over the place enjoying them selves.  I am pretty positive that we will be visiting this park more often.

I can't wait to see where our next family adventure takes us :)

Purex Crystals Scent Splash Review & Giveaway

We are on a roll with these coupon giveaways :)
New Purex Crystals ScentSplash in wash fragrance booster infuses your clothes with the power of liquid freshness.  Simply add a little or a lot directly into your washer.

Infuse your clothes with fragrance for a blast of long lasting freshness that no one can resist.

Purex Crystals ScentSplash comes in 3 scents: Fresh Spring Waters, Fresh Lavender Blossom and Fresh Mountain Breeze.

I tested out Fresh Spring Waters.  I was surprised to find out that Purex Crystals ScentSplash are not crystals.  In fact, it is a thick gel like liquid.  It states on the bottle that half a cap full is recommended.  I only filled to the first fill line inside the cap and that was just enough for me.  The scent left on your clothes is not overpowering and is nice :)  I like that you just pour the liquid into the washer, load your clothes, add detergent and turn on :)  Purex Crystals ScentSplash is a fragrance booster not a laundry detergent.

Want to see if Purex Crystals ScentSplash is a nice fit for your family?  Purex was wonderful and sent me 3 coupons good for a FREE botttle of Purex Crystals ScentSplash to bless my wonderful readers with.

Entering my coupon giveaway is super easy.  Just leave me a comment with your email address and you will be entered in the coupon giveaway.
